Well, I am seeing if he could kindly supply with a colour photo of him from his playing days. For each of the seasons from 1976/77 to 1982/83, I am putting together profiles with a colour photo of all those who made appearances.

If any NSCers can help, I'd be very grateful. At the moment, I am seeking colour pics of:

Can we just set some rules here. If you are making a guess, can you indicate whether it is just a guess or if you did actually see the players in question actually play.

For my part, the top right is definetly Towner and I would go for Ruggiero for the bottom right. And yes, I did see them both play numerous times.

Yes, it was a 4-1 win over Coventry.

I would have said top right was Lawrenson

And the one behind Horton is Eric Steele

I would also add that in the bottom middle, I would think the player facing towards the camera is Lawrenson and the player with his back to the camera is Peter O'Sullivan (although you can't see much of them).

Thanks! Can anyone back Lighthouse on this? I cropped the pre-season team photo for that season to get this photo of Ruggiero - must have been ordered to the hairdressers by Mullery!

In the squad photo in the History book for that season, Ruggiero has none of that facial hair, and a more repectable haircut.

How about Martin Lambert, I am sure he made an appearance, maybe even Newcastle against Kevin Keegan at the Goldstone ?

According to Tim Carder's book, Lambert played three games in the 1983/84 season, which takes it outside the 1976/77 to 1982/83 seasons. However, I'd definitely need his picture if this part of the website expands beyond this!

I'm assuming the game is against Blackpool on the last day of 77/78. Our team that day was: Moseley, Tiler, Williams, Horton, Winstanley, Lawrenson, Towner, Ward, Poskett, Ruggiero, O'Sullivan. Sub Potts (who else?)


I think the bottom one one is Ruggiero and the top one is Towner, but I wouldn't swear to the latter (even though I saw him play many times and was at school with him), it's a fuzzy pic.

The bloke behind Horton coming out of the tunnel is deffo Poskett though.
