Alright flower, what subjects did you do? As I'm sure you're well aware there is a ginormous gulf between the real subjects and the likes of business studies in terms of difficulty. Achieving an A in Chemistry, Physics, Further Maths etc is a significant achievement. Someone could quite easily get 3As in subjects like PE and Business Studies and probably not make a C in Chemistry.

Sorry only just seen this. I got my A* in Maths, A in economics and B in politics. Agree about the gulf though, although universities do take this into account when doing offers etc.

slightly agree....a resit gives you extra time to prepare and another bite at the cherry, and you can get the same grade as someone who did it first go. This means that on paper you're the same ability but in reality you probably aren't.

I guess it doesn't take into account something like a students mum dying on the morning of the exam...but i suspect the vast majority of people who resit simply didn't prepare well enough first time round (myself included, probably)

Agree.

Well done everyone - so many subjects, so much to know! Education is a fine thing. I remember the relief at being able to drop all my least favourite subjects to concentrate on A-levels, although my GCSEs were called O-levels, so it's getting hard remembering these things...

Don't worry if you buggered it up, GCSE's are worth literally **** all as soon as you've got your college/sixth form place confirmed. I got pretty underwhelming results 5 years ago after pissing around throughout secondary school, 3 A's 4 B's and 4 D's if memory serves me right. Thought bollocks to this, knuckled down at college, went to uni, got my perfect job straight out of it and the rest is history.
Special well done to the smartarses that got A*'s, don't get too comfy though!

Does anyone ever not get what they wanted . Judging by Facebook today , every one with kids is parenting a genius . Can't all be true

Have you considered that the ones parenting dunces, might have chosen NOT to plaster their rubbish grades on the interweb?

Right here, right now
My daughter got her GCSE results today - 4 As, 5Bs and 2 Cs along with a Distinction* BTech in Sports. Basically she passed all her exams!

Very proud of her.
