So they are AS levels rather than final A2 levels? It certainly wont do his predictions any favors but it's entirely possible to apply to uni after you have your final grades which could still be a good set of results. There are of course still potentially 2 rounds of retakes for these exams as well.

Missed adding As, apparently you can only resit next June now. Micheal Gove removed the January option, and is a figure of hate amongst 16 and 17 year olds.

:lolol: the damage Gove is doing to our education system is going to take years to undo.

Re. your mention of GCSE results: GCSEs are not very hard, if your moderately bright and you payed at least some attention at school you can walk them with ease. Those A levels are a different kettle of fish in a lot of ways, most of the chemistry I do at Uni is no more advanced than what I was doing at A level, half of it is quite literally the same stuff.

I would have hoped that GCSE English would cover the difference between your and you're and how to spell paid. It would appear not.

Now for a moan at the media...

Do boys actually pass exams ?

I know that statistically girls do better than boys at GSCE and A level, but judging by the media, they must do about 10 times better. I am probably digging a hole for myself here, with an audience that would far rather look at 16-18 year old girls than boys, but what sort of message does this send out ? Exams are for girls and nerds ?

Surely constant options to re-sit makes the grading system somewhat false?

Personally, I wouldn't allow a single re-sit. It doesn't especially prepare students for the world of work, where often you only get one shot at a particular project or task.

I thought boys got more A*s overall at A levels this year than girls?

Edit: & Good luck to all getting their grades today. Education, education, education!

slightly agree....a resit gives you extra time to prepare and another bite at the cherry, and you can get the same grade as someone who did it first go. This means that on paper you're the same ability but in reality you probably aren't.

I guess it doesn't take into account something like a students mum dying on the morning of the exam...but i suspect the vast majority of people who resit simply didn't prepare well enough first time round (myself included, probably)

One of the best things was that I still managed a B in Biology despite the final exam being the day after the play-off semi!

One A*, three A's and seven Bs. Absolutely delighted!

What are you about 16 or something ?

Amuses me when posters are accused of being teens on here (usually 14). Especially when some of the oldies are a right bunch of dunces. Congrats and keep up the good work.
