Aside from the shocking opinions on suicide, I think a lot of people here are missing the point spectacularly. Speed was a prominent member of the football community, and it is that community paying its respect, not particular clubs. It could be more about the players than the fans. I can't be bothered to look through the teams from yesterday but I'd be suprised if there wasn't someone (playing or coaching) who worked with Speed at some stage. Don't forget that if this had happened 2 weeks earlier, we would have had one of his best friends (Steve Harper) in our starting lineup.

Exactly my point and would have liked that at out next home game after in incident ie yesterday, we have to remember that without other teams to play against we are nothing and he has been a huge person for both english football, one of the players who won the final div 1 and also in the increase of the welsh team which can only be good for the whole footballing world

The eulogy given by the main man at UEFA just before the draw for the European Cup was not planned. It was only added at the last minute after pressure from the media. Sadly, I think this makes my point. This hullabaloo around this is more to do with media wanting a good story (lots of images of men crying, the extended coverage at the Leeds game on the FL Show etc etc) than about remembering Gary Speed. Very very uncomfortable about the whole circus. But then again, flowers at the "shrines" of kids that have wrapped themselvesa round lamposts make me uncofortable too. Maybe I just don't get this public outpouring of grief over inward refection and sadness.

Would of been respectful if they done it today aswell for the people that weren't at the game on Tuesday.

Look, you seem to be thinking that you can't pay respects without an official tribute. If you want to do something, take a moment yourself to think about him, or send some flowers, or plant a tree, make a contribution to a charity, anything you like really. I'm not suggesting Gary Speed doesn't warrant any respect, but as I presume you're an adult, I'm sure you can think of something appropriate if you feel he needs any further remembrance. You don't need the Albion to authorise your grieving.
