That's OK all the time there are spaces available. By the time I decided to run for REMF this year it was full.

Maybe, but REMF is not here to buy charity bonds to give NSCers the luxury of being able to decide as and when they choose?

It's almost a year to the next race. If anyone positively replies to this thread between now and when 2013 entries close they are better off getting a regular entry. I hate to use this term, but, this is a fact.

In an ideal world yes, but after 2011 I was injured for weeks so didn't know if I could do another one. As it turned out I could!

I understand. But if you are already decided between now and when entries close then you are better off applying for a regular entry.

While there are still entries open I believe your focus should be to get folks to commit to REMF through signing up for their own entries.

Once this is done you will be able to go the Herr Tubthumper route.

Fair comment it is a double pronged attack at the moment.

All comments are taken onboard and appreciated mate. What you do not know about Marathon's is not worth knowing. I am just trying to make 2013 even better.

Indeed. But no harm keeping a couple back for late NSC entrants.

A bit O/T but could REMF get any New York Marathon charity guaranteed entry places? I would be well up for that next year ( they are £299 I believe so you would need some sort of guaranteed minimum)?

Taking on a marathon is probably seen as quite a daunting proposition by many, I imagine. There might be some folk out there who'd like to give it a go, but might feel apprehensive.

Maybe, US, you could outline the things you did this year - presumably you sorted out training programmes for everyone, taking account of differing start points of fitness, nutrion guides and I imagine you get the troops together every week or two for training runs. All things to make people feel part of a team and not isolated.

I think if you let people know about the support REMF gives them it may help some step forward.

I did this relentlessly with the address book of runners for 9 months to make them feel part of a team and suggested all of this. The fact we got to £ 9500 I hope validates what I tried to do.

What did you do though? It wasn't just sending them emails was it?

I tried to encourage a collective team effort, posted the Hove Park 5k Saturday morning event, suggested people get together and do runs together and share ideas and updates on their progress and training routines/ideas. As people were from all over the place I did what I could. I also asked 2 people to be the REMF " marathon coach " as this is not my field without success.

Hopefully our dear leader will be doing this again so we can give more praise to him

As I mentioned last year you will make more income giving these to non-NSCers. If someone on here agrees to run for REMF why waste a charity bond on them?
Agreed.

There's nothing to stop REMF supporters submitting individual entries and raising funds for REMF. If there is a high demand for places from regular Club runners who fail to get a place in the event through the regular route, they can be sold the charity places. It all brings in extra money.

Thanks for the input. If anyone wants to take this on and do better I am happy to stand down and let someone else take this on. I/we did our best in 2012 but I am not an expert at this and did all I/we could do.

Envy. Thursday mornings etc. Or Love perhaps. Never mind I find Camden Boy quite amusing.

Bless him he'd love to run or complete a marathon. Maybe one day.

What is your definition of the word "run"?

In my computer
I keep getting stuck on the buy t-shirts page of the entry process, my laptop doesn't like that page for some reason....

Not running for REMF though sadly if I do go through with it and not defer, was a bit of a binfest on here last year and would rather do it under my own steam without the idiotic issues that NSC raises when the REMF simply tries to do something worthwhile...sad really....

Have you ever run a marathon ?. I saw Tim at 22 miles and he was on his f***ing knees. His legs were strapped up and f***ed and he had spent 20 minutes with SJA but still due to his determination to complete the course and get to the end in great physical pain he did it and for that he is a hero to me. It's very easy to have a pop from your computer. If you feel you are up for it I am very happy to enter you into the team for next year. Will you accept my challenge ?
