In the field
To be fair, he did suffer a very bad injury, but I clearly remember the palpable excitement when we signed him on loan. He did score a few for us, but struggling to recall them.

The game I can recall him scoring in was the bonkers one against Charlton at the Amex. We were 2-0 down after less than 5 minutes, but ended up with winning 3-2 with a couple of goals in the last 10 minutes. JW scored out first goal in that game, I'm pretty sure.

I vividly remembered when he signed, I was amazed that we'd secured him - utd fans screaming for him to be in their first team.

Something was clearly up with him though.

A memorable game and an absolutely brilliant goal. He was only 20 at the time.

I remember him missing an open goal from the halfway line in the dying seconds away at Birmingham in April 2016.

I recall him looking unwell on most of his appearances.
I recall him looking totally lazy. Always gave me the impression he thought he was much too good to be playing for BHAFC. Looking at where he has ended up, he clearly wasn't :)

I thought you meant this bloke?

I recall John Vinicombe telling me "He'd just met the next Chairman of Brighton and Hove Albion"

Regardless of being the king of spin/b*****t Simon C sadly died in his early 50's.

According to a mate, he suffers from terrible anxiety and stage fright. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, insomnia before matches. He was simply not made for high level sport unfortunately
That sounds about right. Absolutely everything needs to be in place to make it in the game, one thing out and that's it, regardless of talent. Poor guy.

He was SICK, man!

(Gotta be honest, I never had him down as a saviour, but getting someone from MUFC on loan was pretty GLAMOROUS back then).

Edit: we don't even get a mention in his club back-catalogue: 'Wilson first made his name when he scored twice on his Manchester United debut at home to Hull City in the Premier League in May 2014 and later played for Aberdeen and Salford City.' :nono:

Why would anyone have thought Wilson was our saviour when we were pretty good at the time and didn’t need saving? And he was only a loan. And bar his first appearance or two he was pretty crap.

One of my favourite games, atmosphere was incredible.

Point taken, but NSC at the time was absolutely creaming itself at the prospect of him playing for us.

There's been a few over the years.

On the coaching front, remember when it looked like our new messiah was going to be Stockport County's Jim Gannon, the Next Big Thing in the managerial game?
