Religious intolerance and bigotry

Blah blah blah re-inforce stereotypes based on bizarre extreme fundamentalists who are massively in the minority blah blah blah.

Sounds a lot like what the far right like to do in regard to immigrants. Still, keep going with your intolerance and dare I say it, bigotry?

IIRC juan is a believer in the space fairy so he will almost certainly think the poor persecuted xian child had every right to insult islam.

But you're not allowed to insult his sky pilot because his make believe friend is real, unlike everyone elses make believe friends.

I wasn't going to put it quite like that but I think he is part of some kind of Christian order, yes. Though hopefully he didn't miss out the bits in the bible about tolerance and all that.

NB it may or may not be worth me pointing out at this time that I'm an atheist.

Probably easiest, so we can sort out who is where.

I am a Christian who is fed up of fundamentalist Christianity.

Sorry to disappoint you but people of faith are quite used to ignorant postings about our beliefs. And from years of experience on NSC I can tell you it is only the ATHEISTS who try to force their beliefs on others on here.

My point was all these comments are simply a matter of perception, depending on your standpoint.

As it happens, like most of you I find the girl's t-shirt offensive and ignorant. It also is terrible theology if you want to get into it. As some others have said, it is also very unfortunate parenting.

But I also find it significant that people feel the need to post a story on here about one single child, who may or may not come from a family with an IQ of 37 (shared between them) on a football message board, perhaps trying to suggest that it is typical of people of faith. Ask yourselves why that might be.

And why do the same people NOT post any stories they come across that shed a positive light on religion? Strange, eh? I could, of course, flood these boards with such stories but I think I would quickly get booted off if I did.

Well put. The demonisation of Christianity is pretty boring, and again is pretty hyppocritical if partaken in by people who would otherwise consider themselves "liberal" or "left-wing" in any way.

Of course that T-shirt is disgusting, disgraceful, and everything else you can think of.

Rather you than me.

Yea well some are keen to emerse themselves in christian bashing instead of facing up to the fact Islam is way nastier on about every measure.

I'm an athiest I have no wish to force it down peoples throats even if I knew how to.

I just look at em, and think christianity, that sucks, jewdaism, that sucks a bit more, islam, that sucks of the scale.

All secularists are better than Orthodox types and moderates ,but I reckon Ive got them in the right order.

As mentioned above, I consider myself an atheist. However, I don't try and force my beliefs on people, and neither do I like it when they try and do that to me (not that it has here). I have seen instances where religion has been very positive, it brings people together, encourages them to help their fellow man and so on and so forth. Unfortunately, some terrible things are also done in the name of religion, and that really is a great shame.

...oh crap... he looks a bit upset about the "gnome' comment.......

Doesn't anyone think that people would generally still be reasonable to each other WITHOUT religion?
I don't EVER think, "oh I'll let this old lady cross the road, because Allah might smite me otherwise".

The answer to that is that you obviously plump for the Palace fan to be your cell mate...............................

Then when he is asleep on his first night you suffocate the **** with his pillow.

Justifiable homicide or mercy killing ? ???

goes with the territory I'm afraid.
I like the yanks but they have a terrible intolerance to anything different to their creed and the last few weeks have shown that.
They are not known for their compassion or tolarence
as opposed to kindly old open minded muslims ? I cannot believe this post wasn't intended to be anything other than supremely ironic.

Could you post some example of Atheists enforcing their beliefs on others on NSC please.

Cheers.
