What I'd like to understand is why it seems to always be the USA or British who make the running in these issues. India, Germany, Italy, Russia, Japan, Malaysia, France, Brazil, Argentina, Holland, Sweden, Denmark, Turkey, Bahrain, Saudi, South Africa, to name but a few, all have air forces, all capable of carrying out the same sort of "defence" missions, why don't they ever step up to the mark?

Disagree. Shame you didn't include my whole quote of reason including the Chimpanzee reference?

Why did you feel you had the need to edit my quote so severely anyway?
I only wanted to comment on your clear statement about religion,.... the rest of your comment was fluff round the edges to be perfectly honest.

You're right of course but sometimes it does seem we are the 53rd state .

What are the other two? We know about the usual 50.

Because the US want to police the world for their own gains and unfortunately the UK has always ass licked the US . The more countries the US can influence the more power they have over them , like any country if the US have the monopoly of businesses in that particular country then any sanctions could cripple them including the UK , it's called world domination .

Because they generally prefer to do so under the banner of the UN, presumably.

Some of those listed have,... but most of those are inward looking, reliant on others to do their dirty work,... and where do you get that Brazil, South Africa or Argentina have the capability, these nations whilst having some modern equipment, are not a player on the world scale of military operations.

Brazil has a reasonable inventory, 57 Fighter Jets (F-5s), 53 Ground Attack Jets (AMX A1s) plus combat helicopters and naval strike aircraft. Argentina has a lot fewer agreed.

No it isnt, it is exactly a religious issue, the victims in this case are simply a hybrid religion, one which has roots, traditions and ceremony that are reflected across both Christian and Islamic faiths. However, muslims call them devil worshippers, hence the persecution now that IS have started moving into their tradition region of Iraq.

I only wanted to comment on your clear statement about religion,.... the rest of your comment was fluff round the edges to be perfectly honest.

Talk about fluff :lolol:

WWI & WWII wasn't about religion, it was about Empire.

Who else would you like to police the world ??

China, Russia, Pakistan, the EU, Africa who ?? I agree that the USA isnt perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but as a barometer of world values its one of the better ones.

For a long time now Christian's have been targeted, killed, churches burned, killed for not converting etc in many countries in the middle east and Africa. Precious little in the media seems Syria, Libya, Gaza etc get the people's anger and marches going.

And what did those countries do when the same thing was happening in this country. 17 Christian martyrs were burnt at the stake in Lewes and similar scenes occured around the country. Henry VIII and the abolition of the monasteries when the church refused him the right to divorce his wife. The power struggle between 2 religions with the Throne switching between the 2 and leading to the gunpowder plot and so on.....

Plenty of wars started not involving religion, maybe the common denominator is elsewhere, but that would not fit in with your agenda would it?

Where did I say ALL wars had been fought over religion? Money, power, land all reasons for war. What exactly is my agenda?

You've listed 3 nation states, a continent and a union of sovereign nations. What about the UN, or Nato? As a barometer I'd say you need to tap the glass a little bit more….

The UN can't be used as a police force as long as they remain toothless (which they are, utterly gutless organisation) and member nations retain vetos.

The UN and Nato isnt an option, otherwise it would already be delivering whatever you want to be delivered and it probably doesnt, bit like saying let my local church council have a go ( Vicar of Dibley style ).

They seem to be irrelevant and at critical times are largely ignored by a dominant nation or group of nations, so you are back to which dominant nation might offer some world values that align with ourselves, the USA seems a better option than most.
