I could post here all night on reggae to come out of the UK but for me without doubt the most influential reggae tune ever to come out of the UK has to be Warrior Charge. A seriously tuff tune on release and it's never grown tired - versioned numerous times in Jamaica (probably the truest test of a reggae classic in riddim terms )

Yes. How about some Lover's Rock?

It's worth remembering that Lovers Rock was a UK creation that exported to Jamaica. Fine fine example there Buzzer. Have to include one of Carroll Thompson's finest I suppose. Don't get me started on Sandra Cross though, I go all weak at the knees at the very mention of her name

It'll be a TRAVESTY if there's not a major section of the programme given over to The Clash. Punky Reggae Party YEAH!

I'd rather they were a footnote at the end. They had a minimal influence and if anyone should get a mention it would be Don Letts.

Bristol's finest - Black Roots

 I love that Carroll Thompson song. What was the one with a girl called Glasgow? Can't find it, love it (and Lover's Rock) but can never remember the name.

(meant to send you this link from my blog too de-minimis: shangaan electro)

Oh go on then, last one from me...seeing as I've just found my favourite Sandra Cross tune replete with DJ version it'd be rude not to share it. :)

Deborah Glasgow ?

I have checked out you blog and meant to get back to you on it to say how good it's looking but not been around here much of late. Not keen to stay long on this thread either as I'm having youtube trouble on here and having to use my admin account to see youtubes on here at the mo. I'll be in touch

Disagree. Don Letts was DJ Of Choice to an audience of dozens at the earlier punk gigs. His influence was minimal. Whereas The Clash did a massive lot more to turn a generation of young white punks onto relatively-obscure-at-the-time-stuff like Junior Murvin and Mikey Dread. Sorry, but no contest.

Thanks v much. Really appreciate it.

Deborah Glasgow - that's the lady. Champion Lover was a lovely tune. Played that one to death.

THPP - No Don Letts - No reggae in punk - No question. I think we'll just have to disagree.
