Whether he should have gone to his GP in the first place or not, I am at least completely satisfied that this is not remotely worth going to the Argus about.

One important question comfortably resolved, but another remains unanswered. Could, or should, the OP have screamed for a Policeman?

On a more serious note, I genuinely have no idea who my GP is. How do you obtain this information? When I was 4, my 5 year old sister plied me with our mum's thyroid medication and I was whisked off to the A&E to get it looked at... I haven't visited a doctor since. But, after a friend who has recently qualified as a doctor told me my knees may in fact have more wrong with them than patella tendonitis, I fear it may finally be time to get it looked at.

I'm still unsure why the OP is moaning, the nurse gave a professional opinion that it should be diagnosed properly before someone less qualified than a GP starts to try and cure you.

Anyway. I pay taxes, I'm of to the nearest army barracks to DEMAND to shoot some stuff with a giant machine gun...

I, similar to you, ALSO pay taxes, and I DEMAND to be able to walk in the middle of the road without being beeped at or run over by those BLOODY NON TAX PAYING IMMIGRANTS.

A&E means Accident and Emergency and while your abscess was probably very painful, it wasn't an emergency, so you should have contacted your doctor's surgery. While some surgeries make appointments for a fortnight away, in a case like this, your doctor would probably have called you back and ask you to come to the surgery straight away for treatment. (For this reason, it's not worth contacting The Argus. They could just as easily flip the story the other way.)

I will NEVER criticize the NHS again. It costs me $60 for 10 mins with a GP and $280 for a 20 min ultrasound.
The service is no better. A &E is the same.

I didnt realise what I had until it wasnt there.

Patient attends a+e, is triaged by a proffesional who informs them of the best place to get care (so they can dedicate resourses and time to more critical patients), the patient does so and is put back together in the same day? Shambles.

with difficulty is my experience. just go to a GP and register and tell them the area where you last visited a GP and let them use the system to find your records. you'll probably find them symapthetic if you were 4, try it when you were 20 and they get a bit hissy about you not looking after your own care.

Quite right, they are too busy ignoring the Gus story than to ignore you.

So have I hurt my ankle bad that i could not stand on it, (kicking over a large single cylinder motorcycle) and went to the GP who advised it would need x raying so sent me up to the A&E, But would never go to A&E without going to a GP first unless i thought it was life or death.

Yes, but that's an accident, so A&E is the right place. I've had to go to A&E with a bad ankle before as well.

Been in contact with patient liaison they are looking into it see what they have to say then might go to the argus
A&E is for emergency situations and treatments,... you didn't have either, your GP is the right place to go.

So in the event that this happens to you what would you do after suffering for 5 days oh yeah I'm pretty dam sure you would go to the 1st place that is open and available to ease the pain that your in

5 days ?? I think the general rule is that if you've had a condition for more than 48 hours then A&E is not where you should be going, but to your GP. Still a little surprised they turned you away once you were there though. Why wait 5 days though, I can get an appointment at my GP the same day, or at worst, the next day.

You probably don't have a GP because you have never registered with one. I don't think it happens automatically, you'll have to approach a local practice and get your name on their lists.

Agreed. If A&E couldn't treat it, it's unlikely that anyone at the Argus would be better qualified to help.
