Yerp, does muslims are taking over. All 2.7% of them, if we're not careful. We'll be living under muslamic iraqi law with their rayguns.

My point is that Tooting is better now than it was 20 "odd" years ago, as is all of London. I have lived for 30 of my 38 years of age in London and have seen the improvements. I have been to Tooting many times over many years as I have a good friend living there. It is not where I would choose to live but it is without doubt nicer now then it was 20 years ago. If you are going to make huge sweeping statements on a public message board then you should be able to defend them without getting all menstrual.
I was born in Peckham in 1974 and went to school in Forest Hill. If you think that those "south east" London areas are somehow worse now then they were 20+ years ago then I'm sorry sir but you are way off the mark.
you went to school in greenwich you rotten liar, as for your comments on whether places are worse or not , its a matter of opinion, and in mine , and my relatives who still live in tooting its a lot worse than it was 20 years ago, and peckham certainly is .

I did live in Greenwich when I started working (well remembered) but didn't grow up there.

So by worse do you mean more ethnically dominated? Because Tooting was no more 'white' in my memories as an 8 year old then it is now. Nor Peckham. Define worse.

And having been to the Peckham Rye end of Lordship Lane recently I can promise you that it wasn't like that (ie. nice) when I was a kid.

I doubt your head would be buried so deep in the sand if you lived in 40 % muslim tower hamlets, but you dont do you, so very easy to dismiss peoples concerns.

What happens to decent honest white working class folk in these said muslim tower blocks?

Even though the Tories were quite happy to make contact behind the scenes but suggest otherwise in public....

I've read quite extensively about both of them. Just finished a book about Boris.

Have come to the conclusion that neither actually believe in ANYTHING. Just fly their flag for whatever political movement will get them power.

I suspect Boris will just win, because of a protest vote against the Government in power.

What ?

Well that's what got Ken in first time. Londoners think he will be able to cause more nuisance within his political party.

Do not underestimate the thorn in the side Boris is to Gideon and Dave. Not unlike Ken was to Tone and Gordan.

tooting, as you well know.

I'm sorry Bushy but that is nonsense. I live a ten minute walk up the road and am down there all the time. You know as well as I do that off the High Street there are some very expensive properties that put Clapham to shame.

I honestly do not recognise the Tooting you describe even though you may not recognise the Tooting you grew up in.

The Tooting I know is one with lots of Asian shops frequented by affluent middle class white people longing for a High Street with er... shops.

I like Tooting because I can buy stuff without giving money to Tescos.

Unlike Clapham which has become somewhere people go to be sick on a Friday night after a bad week at work. I got bored of shops closing in Clapham only to be replaced by bars selling cheap shots.

I decided to move somewhere where I can buy a paint brush and have a drink. How very English.

One of the major "identities" we've lost in this country is the High Street. In places like Tooting, it's the immigrant population keeping it alive. A fact somewhat lost on many. Yes of course they are also selling stuff that appears alien to me. But trugs are a bit alien to me to as is Halfords, because I don't own a car.

Clapham became a nightmare - honestly. Just before we left, some enterprising "immigrants" started opening shops again that were open all hours and sold exotic goods like Christmas Cards.

Too late for us, we were gone.

I grew up in a village and appreciate stuff like that you see. I do understand the fear of outsiders though, we used to think the same about those from over the border in Kent.

to be fair, by all accounts ken seems to have a difficulty with naming his wife's income and so a football ground in the suburbs stood no chance
