Yes possibly a touch harsh. He was excellent for us under Hughton but It had become apparent we had moved beyond what he had to offer which is pretty limited for a PL defender. He would have suited someone like West Brom though and could have gone to a better level than Celtic.

l'd say Celtic are probably at a pretty good level, it's just that they are never really tested by all the opponents, (bar Rangers and some of those that they meet in the Champions League), that they face season on season.

Celtic themselves are a decent side (as are Rangers). That’s it though and the rest of division are league 1 standard. That must be painfully dull. Great place to go to win some silverware though.

Well ? Would you recall Duffy ?

IMO he's a better defender than Webster and at set pieces more likely to score.

I watched him yesterday against Hamilton and he made a number of errors that far better teams would have pounced on. Really like the idea of him but on balance, no. He's not a Potter style player.

What.....to keep conceding goals from crosses and set pieces?

And what will he offer for the other 99% of the match? ??? Don't get me wrong, I like the guy, he's a big, throw himself in front of the ball, no BS defender, which was great under CH, but he doesn't fit into Potter's ball playing philosophy. I'd rather Potter brings in a decent defensive coach to cut out these costly errors than bring back a player that doesn't fit into the managers plans bar when the opposition has a set piece.

It’s a no from me. Great player for us in the past but not in the future.
I also don’t think our weak manager can handle big personalities and therefore all the characters have now gone!

Loved big Shane, but hated to see him languish on our bench. He needs to be playing.

We won't recall him

Well we were also really poor at defending set pieces with Dunk and Duffy under Hughton so there wouldn’t be any change there.

Webster is a far superior player as he showed again today.

Not as good a defender ... but yes a better player

No thanks, hardly fits in with our style of play

Wot ? That whole sexy relegation style/vibe.....

So joking apart why with out height can’t we defend set pieces. Our whole survival might depend on it so let’s talk

Duffy is clueless passing the ball out of defence

Ridiculous statement, yes didn’t have Dunk’s range of passing but certainly not as bad as you make out.

Was voted POTS by the fans only 2 seasons ago for attributes other than not being Beckenbauer or Moore.

As like Knockaert, his form dipped badly after losing his father and has the same affected Potter who I think has lost his way since his father passed last January, and six months previously after losing his mother.

Duffy would add nothing to our current defence, we have to accept they must improve. White was at fault for both goals today a Dunk made an error on the 2nd.

However much I’d love Duffy to come back, with our style of play he’d stick out like a sore thumb. Play would just go around him at pace. He would be useful at set pieces, unfortunately though you can’t bring on a player just for corners etc.
