It's not really true that the Recruitment team haven't found any strikers though is it? They identified Nunez and Gonzalez it was just that neither choose to come to Brighton? It happens, what they appear unwilling to do and I think its policy is move down a list to players not good enough or without the requisite skill set because target one said no.

Completely agree.

The recruitment team did their side of things.

Either TB didn't offer high enough wages or GP, Barber and Ashworth didn't sell the vision of the club well enough.

Not criticising the above, but to blame recruitment is inaccurate.

Exactly, the list of targets were produced.

Then it’s down to the fee and wages the club are prepared to pay, is the player interested and a club willing to sell? In a highly competitive market of top flight clubs across Europe also looking for that effective striker.

And nobody mentioned wages either. To repeat, our recruitment army have to find the right striker at the right price and with the right wages. They get paid to do so. They are doing a great job in all but one area of the pitch. Time to put that right.

They also have to sell “little old Brighton” to them - probably the hardest part of the equation when trying to bring in players of the caliber we’re looking for.

Yes, especially when Villa and West Ham etc will be offering miles more than we will in salary

Bring back Gus at his most charming on the recruitment team, nobody has done a better job for us in selling L’il Ole Brighton. CMS came to us over bigger teams. Wayne Bridge, Vicente and Bruno, Matthew Upson and Ulloa. All whilst we were in the Championship

Obviously the performance of the club is a major factor. But I genuinely think our own GP will start to become an additional selling point for prospective players, if he’s not already.

TBH that should be getting a lot easier when you consider this is our fifth season in the Prem, and ANY decent striker would know they will grab a hatful if we continue to create the high number of quality chances we did last season. Ans the striker competition is fairly poor, so any potential striker signing should be confident they will get in the first team.

My sincere apologies. Unintended consequences of my rant.

For balance, apart from Edouard, the rumours are:

Crotone CF Simy Nwankwo, KRC Genk’s Paul Onuachu, and Gooner Eddie Nketiah. Does that help?

No matter how much you harangue and beat people up, you can't find solid gold unicorn shite easily.

The parameters set such as cost, wages and clubs position (attractiveness) means there are not that many prospects and those that there are, other clubs throughout Europe after them too.

And your point is what exactly? Let’s not even try? Or offer more? What are you suggesting?

Are we being a bit sluggish with our transfer activity, seeing as though our final pre-season game is next weekend, or has the BW transfer saga just delayed things a bit while we were waiting on that cash? Hopefully we can get Cucurella and Livramento over the line soon.

It will never end up being this simple BUT… I feel it’s all there for us if the rumours are to be believed.

Marc Cucurella - looks like he’d be a great acquisition at wing back

Odsonne Édouard - if we do have an interest, £20mil could be a steal looks like he’d fit the system well and only major question marks are his attitude

Get the young Chelsea lad in as it’s too good an opportunity even if he is similar in position to Lamptey

Decide whether to sign a Ben White replacement or promote within. Possibly Nat Phillips or the Croatian.

The Japanese winger in as a prospect to go out on loan

Clear a few more ‘deadwood’ players we don’t mind if we lose.

Keep hold of everyone else if possible - eg Bissouma. If not, we’ve got the Conputer and Moises there ready.

Job done.

It’ll never be this simple, but there’s lots of potential in all the above as ‘strong’ rumours and all seem plausible.

So far we’ve missed out on the chelsea lad - annoying but wasn’t key. We got the Japanese lad - not a clue how that one will go. We’re close to Cucu apparently - and have a chance chance of the forward in Nunez - who may we’ll be even better than Edouard who we apparently have never had interest in…

So we’re doing alright with this - Cucu and the striker of the Calibre of Nunez and I’ll be delighted… delighted….

Looks like Duffy’s form with Burn and Veltman there as well means we won’t need to go into the market…

Yes those two signings maybe

Tau and Molumby to go and maybe Richards and A.N.Other to go out on loan

Shaping up to be a superb window
