Im proud of my players, we played a good game against a very good team.

We are Brighton, it’s difficult to play 2 games in 4 days with 8 players injured.

We believe we can still reach our BIG target.
I haven’t seen it but did he honestly say that?He must have watched a different game to me

Brighton factually.....
We cannot legislate for stupid money offers for players and would be stupid to turn them down, that is something even RDZ must understand and not really have a valid reason for questioning, some of the money we received for players are no brainers from a club point of view, simple...
He simply can't moan about that, it keeps the club afloat and in good stead.

The close season transfer market will be full of rich pickings and I would not be surprised if there is a list compiled by Star Lizard already prepared and on the recruitment departments desk. There is no way on gods green Sussex earth that we are not prepared for the transfer window.
So one could assume at the moment RDZ is not privy to this list yet, is this due to the fact he has been making public statements about being backed in the previous windows, his contract in press conferences, that and media speculation about his future.

I cannot see the board sitting down with him with a contract and a list of potential targets at the same time for his approval.
He strikes me as someone who wants more control on targets, but that is not how this is going to work.
If he does go, I can see him kicking himself when we bring in some replacements and upgrades that he would have loved to have worked with and improved his squad.

It seems to me there is not full disclosure from the board to RDZ and he is frustrated by that, and to be honest, I think that is his own making.

I could be well off the mark, I usually am.

I really hope you are jesting old boy.

Quite simply the return of Potter would effectively split the fanbase.

And TB and PBOBE might be a lot of things but they aren’t stupid 👍
I wish I was, but the vibe on here the last few weeks by some has been surprisingly pro-Potter

Talk of Potter returning to the club is absurd. He buggered off and left TB and PBOBE in the lurch half a dozen games into a new season and took the core of the backroom staff with him. TB would be as likely to reinstate Chris Hughton as he would Potter. The Potter ship has sailed. And sunk haha

I think the timing and manner of Potter's departure precludes any return. Apart from that breach of faith I was stunned by my Albion hero Bruno leaving and am still sad about the hero to zero trajectory that his decision caused.....

That was damaging to him and the fans who warmed so much to him; I am not sure there will ever be any way back into our affections and I wonder what he thinks now of the choice he made..... maybe he is just happy with the pay off.... maybe not.

So. Agreed Psycho. But am I alone in thinking that some of the cash we received from sales of Caicedo, MacA, Trossard etc will be splashed
in the summer window on rich pickings as part of the strategy? Or is that a very naive business model and naive of me?

I thought Barber gave mixed messages about him on his Talk S weekly slot. He’s happy here but…. We are bracing ourselves and have a contingency plan.
Anyone who thinks we don't have a contingency plan is an arse hat

I had this conversation last night with the lads we all agreed we wouldn’t of gone mental (if we were owners of the club) although we would of backed RDZ more this season especially with injuries and European travels.
It’s not an extreme let’s spend a billion like you are implying.
I would argue that you the fact that you would of, is probably partly why you and the lads aren't self-made billionaires like Bloom.

I don't think Bloom will look back and think that he should have backed RDZ more this year, I think everything he does is part of a long-term strategy, which is why we are where we are, rather than where the likes of Palace are.

Whoa, there buddy! Them’s fighting words.

I shall plead guilty to partial arsehattery. He might be fully engaged but that’s not mutually exclusive with the possibility of his being somewhat distracted.

I’ve just had to move job after 16 years, when my employer rather charmingly tore up my existing contract and offered me a shit one in its place. I declined and found a new berth elsewhere. My final month in my old location was frantic, as I had to train up successors in short order. In retrospect, I felt I was fully engaged in that time but I can now see that I was distracted, with my work being a bit clunky and disjointed. Everything was a little harder than it should have been.

Not that I’m trying to psychoanalyse RDZ, you understand. Just arguing the case for a possibly subconscious drifting of eye from ball. When your name’s being linked with some of the great names in the sport, you’d be made of special stuff indeed not to think about it just a wee bit.
Congrats on the new job. I hope it suits

However.....I am not sure we are watching RDZ frantically training up Crofty to take the helm following Bloom's refusal to meet Roberto's expectations....... ???

RDZ post match is awful. Maybe it's his fairly limited English, but he rarely answers the question and just repeats the same bollocks game after game.

Barber will always say that there is a contingency plan. Brighton are the best run club in the Premier League, nay, Europe. That is why he’s considered the best CEO going. Rinse and repeat for every interview he gives and the same answers to basically the same questions.

There is always a smartarse ready to say we should have spent more money on better players. As others have pointed out, who exactly are these players we missed out on?

Kudus with hindsight would have been a brilliant option for us given our injury ravaged season, but I don't think the club could have done anymore to convince the player.

Should Colwill have signed that long term Chelsea deal? I am not sure he is so convinced now, but again the club did eveything to get him on board.

Baleba for Caceido would have been a brilliant trade this summer. As it happens the deal was forced through too early for both players.

Call me a happy clappy, but I would be a lot more pissed off if our squad was bloated with high priced under committed under motivated high price superstars on long term contracts. Let's see what business can be done over the summer. It doesn't look likely we will be seeing high profile exits and there is an opportunity to bring in 2 or 3 top prospects.

You're not a poker player, are you?

There will be a perfect storm in the summer. Clubs desperate to unload top players because of FFP, and very few clubs with the money to buy them. Apart from us.

No, I didn't see that coming ether. But I bet Tony Bloom did. ???

Frittering away money over the winter break on still-overpriced players, none of whom want to move during the winter break, is precisely as you describe it - pub talk

Whilst hard to replace an experienced dm from somewhere would have certainly helped, a creative player to take the load of Mitoma certainly would have helped.
I believe we identified the right player in KDH although he was probably to old for the ‘model’

A bit like Dahoud and Fati ... oh

No, he actually said:
"I'm ashamed of my players, we were rubbish against a crap team.
We are Brighton, we should be beating #Teamslike, but my players have no backbone or stamina.
All is lost, the season's over as far as I'm concerned."
