What a ride this bloke had. For anyone to go ahead out of the Peleton after only 6 kms and continue on their own deserves a bloody nighthood. Got to hand to these guys complete professionals unlike some premiershite footballers we all know and hate.

Its like leaving cyling all the way back from Dover to Brighton on your own. This does not include the mountain tops either.

Tuesday is the most important of all for Armstrong he has to attack tommorow.

I wish Pantani was still alive becuase tommorow would be even more awesome. Dont care what anyone says if Pantani was still alive he would beat Armstrong up the mountains.

So who thinks Armstrong and his team were just playing games on Saturday ?

Funny how the whole team suddenly lost touch, but were all back in place yesterday.

Thing is I have never seen Armstrong in a worse position. He has to get at least 3 minutes clear to get the Yellow jersey back, trouble is the other riders are better.

It would not suprise me if that was a stunt by the Discovery Team they other day to make them look as though they are weak and out of touch.

T-Mobile's Ukranian bloke, is where Lance's competition comes from.
The moment Jan fails & he's sole T/M team leader, it's going to be a straight forward battle too Paris.

May the best man win, but I don't think Lance will. 'The king is dead, long live the king'.

This is building up to be one of the best tours since Lemond won the time trial in Paris to take the Yellow jersey off of Fignon:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Does anyone remember when they held a stage in Britain one year?

I stood in Ditchling when they came through and it was an awesome spectacle.

You just can't get any idea of how fast they're going from the TV. Think of how small Ditchling High St is, and imagine 150 bikes all coming screaming through at the same time. It was like a blur.

It's a miracle they don't have even more crashes than they do.

Hats off to these guys, ok the ones not doped up to the eyeballs at any rate.

The Tours changed this year, all the names have gone, all my favourite riders one by one got found out for drugs (Millar,Virenque,Pantani etc) plus there will always be questions hanging over Armstrong and Indurain. There was an excellent article by Paul Kimmage in the Times last week describing a young Belgian rider who despite being extremely talented has written himself off and knows he will never be a big name because he's not on EPO.
There are drug stories going on daily in the TdF which we don't hear anymore.

I watched them finish in Brighton when they came over. the atmosphere was superb and somewhat unexpected for a bike ride. I thin it was about 12 years ago because I was working in the Cinema with Chez at the time.

An amazing day, the peloton let Sean Yates be the first up the Beacon because he was a Sussex boy.
He appeared in more Tours De France than any other British rider. This is the first year there have been none for decades.

I was at school at the time, but I think we might have got the afternoon off to watch it. Unless it was a weekend or something.

Even the flotilla of TV crews, team vehicles, back up cars, promotional vans just added to the spectacle.

I seem to remember after the cyclists came through, the PR teams were chucking loads of promotional gear at the crowds. I'm sure I got a crappy towel or something as a souvenir of the day :lolol:

There was talk of London getting the prologue next year.

Unfortunately, after the Olympic decision, I think we can forget about that.

It's a shame TdF will always be tainted by drugs. But to be realistic I can't see how anyone could go through all of that without chemical help.

Just out of interest, can those of you interested, remember when they were 1st 'hooked' by Le Tour.

For me it was watching Robert Miller (scot) attack up an Alp, get caught 3 times by Indurian, then 'go' again. He finally got him 500 mtrs from the summit, but nobody was interested in the winner, they just went mental when Miller appeared.

Brixtaan is right, the Times interview is well worth a read.
