So what happens once they've failed a medical because of heart reason? They can carry on but no one can sign them?

That article more or less just highlights that Liverpool were dishonest in how the medical went with Remy. Not that he has a dodgy heart.

Exactly. That's the only mention of what it's like being a footballer with heart conditions. No where does it mention what happens at medicals and why different clubs make different/less moral decisions on signing players who could be a danger to themselves playing football.

In Boxing, they give Boxers Brain scans. If they find the slightest shade on the brain, the Boxing board of control won't give the boxer the license to box for their own safety. You'd think Football would have similar rules considering it's mandatory that players have to take medicals.

I understand sorry, but surely the (3) clubs after Liverpool have had medicals carried out on him and still they sign and play him. Surely also insurance companies must have still insured him. It could be that Liverpool were just covering up other unknown reasons for not going through with the transfer.

Liverpool have turned down a player on the grounds of a heart problem before - Asa Harford from WBA, about 40 years ago. I think he went to Leeds.

I reckon it was more when we signed Kazim-Richards who played for us without any heart.

It didnt do Tiote much good, playing with a heart condition.
I would imagine a lot of the problem is insurance. If a player's career ends through injury then the club want to claim on the insurance, 10 million is a company asset.
If his career ends and if it is proven that the condition is known by the club, you can bet your life the insurance company will refuse payment.

My recollection was that it was Leeds who turned him down and he went to Man City, but you may be right, I will go and google; I think of him every time the subject comes up. A hole in the heart sounded so dramatic when I was about 8, now I understand it, not nearly so, although scary none the less. My wife had same condition.

No, It was Leeds who turned him down after a medical found a hole in the heart and he eventually went to Man City.

Not sure why anyone is complaining, if the club don't want to take the risk for 10 million quid then that's their choice isn't it? The decision to play on and be selected by national and club teams he plays for is their decision isn't it? They got it spot on with Neto, they saved Goldsons career and potentially his life later on down the line. I'll trust the club.

I would define complaining as being critical. Can't see any criticism beyond the cases I listed.
