Because the hospital authorities are, quite rightly, refusing to cave into the mob mentality that has overtaken much of social media.

Nice dodge, they didn't sack the person before the mob showed up or after so " the online mob" is an irrelevent point.
Would you be taking that attitude if it was a BNP member asking an ethnic to move or would you be baying with the social media mob?

So why isn't this person named and shamed and sacked? people are quite entitled to kick up a stink if there is no accountability.

Don't worry, now this hospital has taken the lead with "absolutely clear that members of Her Majesty's armed forces, whether in uniform or not, should not be treated any differently to any other person". and ""We are now making this point clear to all our members of staff and will seek to make sure that this never happens again,", then no doubt other hospitals will follow, so if a serviceman/woman gets injured whilst at work in this country, he/she will be treated as above.
So hopefully no more apologies eh.

Something has clearly gone wrong if the Hospital is turning to the police to protect its staff who are being abused.

As for your ridiculous question, just allow me to be offended by the language that you are using. "An ethnic" ? Really!

!

I don't condone this action especially not at a hospital....i guess many are getting fed up but should go down another channel to show their "outrage"....or disappointment in most cases.

What is wrong with this that is the possible notion that someone would want to attack some who protects our freedom? why would that want to do that?

I think this is an interesting question. Although I suspect that many people will not like the answer.

Why should someone be named, shamed and sacked for an error of judgement? If you accept that their was no malice in the decision made then your particular choice of accountability is heavy handed to say the lease.

Really, is that how it was. I have resisted putting up the story from right wing media, the BBC instead.

"A hospital has apologised after an RAF sergeant was moved away from other patients because staff said his uniform might cause offence."......."The spokesman also said the hospital trust was "absolutely clear that members of Her Majesty's armed forces, whether in uniform or not, should not be treated any differently to any other person".

"We are now making this point clear to all our members of staff and will seek to make sure that this never happens again," he added.

"because staff said his uniform might cause offence."........ Why should his uniform cause offence??

Why are you persistently highlighting this word? What offends one person doesn't offend another. How do you know how it was said? Might have been accompanied by a roll of the eyes for all you know.
The fact of the matter is a previous time someone in uniform was attacked. They probably didn't deal with it in a very tactful manner but to suggest they were doing anything other than trying to keep the peace in their busy A and E ward to me smacks of people, like the journalist, trying to push their own narrative. Just like yourself and the OP on NSC.
They've apologised, good, that should be the end of it. I'm glad they are also standing up for themselves in saying how they've been misrepresented. Makes me sick how our health workers are treated.

You accuse someone of a nice dodge then resort to classic Looney spin yourself.

Do you honestly believe someone should be named, shamed and sacked for this one mistake? That's a bit hysterical even for you.

And your point about the BNP. What if there had been a group of pissed up BNP members in A and E after one them had dropped a spoon on their toe at one of their tea parties. And then, I don't know, a flamboyant transexual comes in. Someone who's outward appearance, like a uniform, marks them out. The BNP loons start getting aggressive. And the A and E had had the same incident in the past. In a ideal world, the aggressors are going to be asked to leave and off they'd go, muttering their apologies. Well it's not an ideal world is it, and in a busy A and E ward I'm guessing they might take the same action that they did with the soldier.

And then if a baying mob of transexuals turned up at A and E abusing stuff well they'd be in the wrong too, obviously.

I am glad the hospital has apologised and are reviewing their procedures as well. The nurse in question should not be publicly vilified, she has been incorrectly trained as to handling a situation like this.

No military service person should ever be asked to leave an area or even ever asked if he or she wants to voluntarily leave an area because someone might be offended with the uniform because offence has happened before

This story while some people hate it being highlighted for some reason serves a good purpose.
Military personnel will hopefully never again be treated as some sort of guilty party whilst waiting for NHS treatment

The previous guy was attacked was he not? It's not a case of causing offence just getting someone out of harms way. I doubt, the kind of loon who attacks someone in A and E is going to give a shit about this story.

Wasn't done well but people's safety in a hectic A and E ward is the most important thing. I'm sure they've learnt their lesson in how to handle it better but at what cost?

Crikey, surely you could have squeezed transvestites and lesbians etc into your story of "what ifs ". Too much cheese before retiring last night. Nice deflection though although poorly disguised.

Looney brought up the what if. I just followed it through to the conclusion that it would be the same situation as the soldier.

How would a lesbian be obviously a lesbian anyway? They don't all dress like Millie Tant.

Why do you see the actions towards the serviceman as a single event by an individual, but then somehow morph the actions of a single health worker into 'makes me sick how our health workers are treated'.

Would be nice if you afforded one of our serviceman the same outrage, you are full of contradictions.

Please don't believe the standard of BBC reporting as accurate. I complained very recently about something they were reporting as being very misleading, as I had been in the situation myself. I emailed them, but got no reply.
I used to trust the BBC, but don't any longer.

Ok, I'll give you the 'makes me sick how our health workers are treated' is a bit vague in the context. I meant primarily by the press.

And with regards to the serviceman, I've clearly stated what happened to him was wrong
And as for the one being attacked as he was wearing uniform. Completely out of order. Hope whoever did that was punished appropriately.
