Burgess Hill
One of my favourites of the decade from 1981 was Nah=Poo - The Art of Bluff by Wah. Pete Wylie was a genius and my favourite from The Crucial Three (Wylie/McCulloch/Cope). Somesay and Seven Minutes To Midnight being the stand out tracks from the album.

As people have already mentioned the likes of Pixies, Mary Chain, De La Soul Weddoes etc.I'll take 'Rattlesnakes', 'The Trinity Sessions', both of Costello's two brilliant albums from 1986, 'King of America' and 'Blood & Chocolate', 'Candy Apple Grey', 'Rum Sodomy & The Lash', 'Guitar Town', 'Swordfishtrombones' and these two underrated classics:

If the eighties was a film, 'People Just Want To Dream', the final track on 'Crooked Mile' would be the music to play over the end titles, perfectly summing up what was lost and for what:

"Oh take it any way you want, everything is better
We used to play around before too long we found that
Money is everything"
