Cause it's basically a 90's record, that just happened to be released in the 80s.

So ahead of its time then

For some the 80s are simply big hair, Duran Duran, Kylie and Rubiks Cubes but for me the sound of Manchester is all over the whole decade. Factory were brilliant at the start of the decade and at the end. The Roses are merely a one album by-product of that scene.

I don't think a lot of what I've seen on this thread were even the artistes' best '80s albums and that several had passed their peak by:

Dire Straits Brothers in Arms. Definitely not. Making Movies.

Love Over Gold is also far better than Brothers In Arms

Agree with you both here.
Someone I know was recently banging on about how good Brothers in Arms is, I asked if she had heard Love Over Gold or Making Movies as they are much better, and I really didn’t like BIA when it came out, I just got a very blank look.

Just made a 'short' list, just or artists, probably around 50, and accidentally deleted it :lolol:

Probably for the best.

I bought (and by definition therefore still have) quite a few of the albums listed on this thread. To be honest, I'm struggling to think of any that I feel any urge to turn on the record player for; I'm not sure I still like any of them much! The Damned, Joe Jackson and The Smithereens did some good stuff, but beyond that I'm struggling!

Willing to bet that you don’t feel the same way about 70’s albums

Sandinista! - The Clash
I didn’t really like this album in the 80s, and it’s not my favourite by The Clash, but really got into this recently.

There's a lot of experimental rubbish/filler on there in amongst some absolute gems (Somebody Got Murdered, Police on my back, Charlie Don't Surf and - I know HWT likes this obscure one as do I - Lose This Skin with Tymon Dogg on vocals) but it should never have been a triple album. They were in a strange place at the time (how do you follow the masterpiece that was London Calling?).

Got to agree with all of this.
Police on my back is playing as I post this, brilliant track, I also really like the reggae stuff, One More Time and One More Dub.
