Two things stood out tonight:
1. The Joey Barton "Four ugly birds" remark.
2. The UKIP woman was a whiney pain in the arse. No humour, not sexy, just somebody's mum that got lucky on a protest vote.

Just watching it delayed, this UKIP woman is seriously boring
Not sure what your gripe is. Surely it is not an unreasonable to assume that those that are registering a protest against the current government or against Europe and/or the other parties are more likely to make the effort to vote than those that lean more towards being indifferent to European elections.

I see someone struggling with his background and actively trying to think. A weakness to apologise ? I consider it a strength.
I would rather spend 2 hours listening to Barton than 2 minutes listening to Will Self

I thought Barton did ok for a non-professional politician. A wise apology. But as Edna pointed out - he let himself down on an obvious question. He won't be back.

They rarely invite people like that back.
He made an analogy that isn't any different from the tabloids discussing who is the dishiest out of Cameron, Clegg or Milligan's.
Misplaced but funny is was used against UKIP.

I don't actually have a problem with them inviting a variety of guests on to QT. Politicians bore the life out of many of us at times, and a great many of them seem to be disappearing up their own arses, so it's fine by me to offer some different viewpoints.
On that basis, there's no reason why Barton shouldn't have been invited. I missed the comment at the start, which perhaps came as a result of nerves (I certainly saw his apology after being admonished by the woman in the audience). I thought he came across as clueless on Heathrow, but he made the odd valid point on other issues raised. I'm sure there have been worse guests- where he didn't know the answer to something, he just admitted it rather than waffling along and trying to bluff his way round it or dodging the question in the way many politicians do.
Presumably the point of people like him being on is to try and engage a broader audience in political debate. Can't see that being a bad thing.

For me, putting Stephen Fry on the darts works, but putting Barton on QT doesn't. Stick him on 8 Out Of 10 Cats - a better fit.

Well...listened to some of it on radio 5. A side from all the points made above I'd just like to add that least we forget Barton is a thug (kicking people when down, stubbing cigar in face of a colleague etc) whilst Piers Morgan - friend of the establishment is still not clear of one of the biggest scandals in Modern times (hacking enquiry). Both are nasty pieces of work IMO. I couldn't get that out of my head as they pontificated to we lesser mortals and great TV as they might be, surely there were others who could and should have been invited rather than these two self publicists with their wardrobes of skeletons? BBC let themselves down last night, poor choice but then QT isn't what is used to be as others have said.
