I always think the sailors look quite precariously close to the edge in those sorts of photos.

I can confirm also, (through experience) that most will either be still pissed, or at the very least, have a raging hangover. #upchannel

I did watch the facebook page video for about 25 minutes. Exactly when did HM Prince Charles arrive at the ceremony? I saw Duchess of Cornwall arrive but never saw the future King arrive on HMS Prince of Wales.

One of 617 Squadron's F35Bs went unserviceable while QNLZ was in the States and was unable to make the flight back with the rest of the squadron. It was brought back across the Atlantic aboard QNLZ and is apparently to be launched from the ship while she's alongside the dockyard in the near future (rumoured to be tomorrow); HMNB Portsmouth Twitter account claims it will provide more details when the date and time are confirmed. This will be the first F35 launch from a carrier in UK waters.

HMS Prince of Wales has been moored in Liverpool all week and just left. Just took this pic from my office window so apologies if it’s blurred!

How many floors up are you?

On a very windy day this time last year, we went to the very top of the Anglican Cathedral on Mount Pleasant. Amazing views, but I hate heights in certain circumstances, it was horrible in the wind.

13th floor of “The Plaza”. It’s the old Littlewoods building.

Impressive? I have my doubts.

First doubt comes from the question - what is the camera mounted on? It does not appear to be attached to Mr Flyer.
Second question - given the uplift jets are attached to the end of Mr Flyer's arms, this means his entire body weight is carried by his arms [like the gymnast doing the rings routine]. Whilst this is not a complete physical impossibility I don't believe Mr Flyer would have the strength to sustain a flight of this duration.

So, I've probably been whooshed here but I'm claiming this is CGI bullshit. Initial video filmed by a drone and then Mr Flyer acting in front of the green background with a fan blowing to make his outer tee-shirt look like its flapping in the breeze. Pretty sure he's not wearing standard naval operations issue uniform. Jet engine sounds added to improve the effect.

It’s genuine. Here another link (which I have most probably not linked properly.... ). Note that the main thrust comes from the pack and the arms are for stability and direction.

The camera will be a drone - entirely within the realms of the possible - about £500 or so. Here's a fancy £1,000 one (skip to 3:50 for specific details about high-speed object tracking):

Whilst ex RN, and impressed by these two ships, I cant really think of the purpose. Think we have more important issues in the UK that need addressing without spending funds on strategic aircraft carriers.

Probably. But the peeps producing military stuff traditionally are traditionally pretty good when it comes to the art of lobbyism (also known as corruption, when it happens in other parts of the world).

5 Uk Jets. 10 US Jets. Will start its first deployment with mainly US Jets. Escorted by a mixture (probably US) ships.

Whose Aircraft carrier is it, that we have paid for?

We have hardly any surface ships left to escort her, and can't afford enough of the jets, so looks like a jobshare with the Yanks
