There's also an uncredited rising star. Alan Curbishley meets Jimmy with Steph outside the ballroom in the morning and asks if everythings allright.

Not as an actor. Totally wooden. As was his dancing in Quadrophenia. :lolol:

He's a bloody horrible 'actor'. Hopeless appearances in several classics though - such as Baron Munchausen, Dune, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

I saw him in an interview, where he said he didn't go to gigs to see bands. A couple of nights later, he was sitting right next to me at a Kula Shaker show in LA.

He's a bit too bloody precocious and self-conscious to be any good as an actor.

One error in the film is a background shot where the billboard listing showing the latest film on at the cinema (which was at the back of the ABC) says HEAVEN CAN WAIT which wasnt actually released until 1978 - they got round this by saying they would have been playing the original 1943 version !!!

I always look at the spot outside the Grand, when I pass it, where Sting's immaculate chrome Vespa was parked, god how I wanted that scooter, I could only afford a Lambretta LI 150.

:(

Correct me if I am wrong but thought that scene was filmed at the Ship Hotel or am I wrong ?

she's in it

don't they show a train that wasn't around at that time and building on the seafront, that wasn't built in the 60's and you can see the tyre tracks of all the pre runs to the beachy head scene.

By the way the album is a classic - better than the film and thats the original quad not the film version.

Coupled with "Brighton Rock" these two are the best films to include Brighton however this is naturally open to debate so feel free to offer any others.
Not up there with Quadrophenia or Brighton Rock, but Oh! What a Lovely War! stars some iconic bits of Brighton, including the specially refurbished West Pier and LDC's favourite alternative site for a football stadium - Sheepcote Valley rubbish tip.

Just after filming finished in 1969, I moved into the house next door to the place that had been rented out to Len Deighton, producer of OWALW, who was still living there - just for a couple more weeks, though. The classiest next door neighbour I've ever had.
