Quadrophenia is on ITV4 tonight at 22:30 hrs and if you have not watched this do as it is a great cinematic piece of Brighton history.

The older generation of us (including myself) remember watching the film in the ABC in East Street and the cinema we watched it in being in the actual film no less when the fight scenes broke out.

Coupled with "Brighton Rock" these two are the best films to include Brighton however this is naturally open to debate so feel free to offer any others.

Don't miss it and some help please - I remember a horror film in the early 80s (I believe) with Pamela Stephenson which had one scene shot of her in car looking back over Saltdean Lido.

Does anyone remember the name of the film ?

No. You are quite right. The best 2 films and no debate. (Although Mona Lisa comes close). Sorry - can't help on the horror film.

Funny you should say that as I was going to add Mona Lisa into the debate......

Could be The Comeback?

The Comeback (1978)

Quadrophenia is a great film to a point - most of the actors went on to become stars.

Phil Daniels
Leslie Ash
Ray Winstone
Timothy Spall
Trevor Laird
Philip Davis

But so much of the period detail is wrong. I can think of at least 10 (some are howlers) just to do with the music.

Quadrophenia did do a couple of spin offs, The Bill and Eastenders, only saw it for the first time a few years ago, and love it

Yes but sod the detail TLO it is great.

Own up then, how many people went to the shag scene place ??

Also the ending was at beachy head as well.

TLO you maybe right about the horror film.

Also I remember the scenes when they stole the drugs being deleted from some showings not so long ago on the TV.

Sting did quite well too.

Of course. It's part of any Brightonian's birthright, and still daubed in new graffiti, irrespective of how often they clean it up.

Another classic error, the bit when he looks in the mirror with all the rockers behind him is good as well.

That was the back entrance to Choys restaurant. Before the film was made , I used to get my dad a cuppa from the takeaway opposite the cinema in East Street and take it back through the little passage to the Town Hall car park and sometimes the door would be open with three or four chinese kitchen staff having a crafty fag chattering away in their own language.
