Can't see him working with their chairman Jeremy Peace, who is a complete control freak.

The Head Coach aspect of it is probably why Pulis wouldn't take the job. Given that Irvine himself has started questioning his future, that does not bode well. Pulis may have another offer heading his way from Leicester before too long, and maybe Newcastle in due course as well.
