Ben does post on here while mum spends her time moaning that 'that nice boy Harty' is not doing the phone in.

Other than that she is blind and could not see to type but having read some of the posts on here I do not see that as too much of a hindrance.

Royal oak is ok.

The real ale is hit and miss.

Pub does a nice, end of Sunday feeling quiz Sunday night, which a guy that I know goes is better at his painting than his quizzes.

I think I know him ?.. believe me, he does better at quizzes...

Even not drinking draught it is worse a bottle of Becks Bud etc cost about £3.70 and that is for only 330ml. 3 bottles to the litre £11.70 = 2pints @ £5.85pint.

Don't buy bottles, they obviously cost more. Ales tends to be the cheapest option (and in my opinion, the best).

The prices are expensive, but nothing compared to my latest trip to France. Average pint cost around 6 euros.

Sorry... but unless he is buying more drinks than other people... at £3 a pint... £100 would buy 20 pints plus a decent curry and a taxi home.

1998 called to ask how you are... :lolol:

i dont think you are accounting for the costs of fizzy bottle lagers, rounds of spirits after a certain point and/or cocktails then shoots at £6+ each. kids today eh

The breweries must love the fact that there are mugs who will pay the same price for a half pint bottle that they can buy a pint for

Good it's not just me then! whilst a bottle of beer is nice to drink from. I (also) have never understood why people pay the same (or more) for a bottle than a pint!

Is it a poseur thing like those awful WKD adverts!

Depends on the pub.......having mostly taken a break from pubs for a good long while now, I do tend to order bottles more on the grounds that on the odd occasion I have a pint I really notice how often the pub clean their pipes out, ie not very often for the most part.

Last night there was 8 in our company 4 of whom are women who are not expected to buy drinks

Wow, can I come out for a drink with you some time?

I must try that one next time I'm having a post-match drowning-of-sorrows in the Basketmakers. "Sorry chaps, you know the rules where ladies are concerned, mine's a white wine spritzer please".

The Age of Enlightenment clearly hasn't reached Worthing yet :lolol:

I haven't been to Worthing for many years but can someone post on here when it does actually reach the 21st century - it appears to be 1958 at the moment.

The Selden Arms is stuck in the 50`s.
No music, friendly folk who like a chat and the best beer in the area by a country mile....... Oh yes and a good landlady.

Its the 50`s all the way for me.

God. I have'nt been there for yonks..Also remember the Alexandria along Lyndhurst..used to do Guiness and oysters on Sunday mornings..great for the hangover that.

yum.

I was in The Warwick Worthing with my sons after a family meal last night and it made me realise how glad I am that I no longer have a pub.

I have always laughed at my son who said he cant go out for a night and spend less than £100 but a round of drinks for 8 cost £28.30 so I can where he is coming from. He said the best pub in Worthing and probably the most expensive is the Rose and Crown, I like the Hare & Hounds because of the real ale. What do others think?

Is he the only one buying rounds all night?
And if you still owned/ran a pub, how would that make it any worse for you or your family?

This thread doesn't make sense to me.

Last night there was 8 in our company 4 of whom are women who are not expected to buy drinks so it is 4 rounds bought x 4 which is only 16 drinks for a whole night less than 1/2 bottle of spirit and from 9pm until 3,00am only 3 or 4 drinks an hour not excessive.

Even not drinking draught it is worse a bottle of Becks Bud etc cost about £3.70 and that is for only 330ml. 3 bottles to the litre £11.70 = 2pints @ £5.85pint.

Ahah, I see that 'glass ceiling' is well and truly smashed then.

If any women are feeling feminism has been put back by this thread, feel free to come in the Battle of Trafalgar before the match on Saturday and buy me a drink.

I feel it is the least I can do to redress the balance.

Agree on the beer and the friendly landlady but the rudest, most miserable landlord I've ever met. And I've met a few.:drunk:
