Sinead O’Connor? Cat Stevens? (Not great examples). Weller?Trying to think of another celebrity who has changed more (both in themselves and public perception thereof) over 40-50 years than Lydon.
Morrissey?
He was thinking about doing Eurovision a few years ago too.Trying to think of another celebrity who has changed more (both in themselves and public perception thereof) over 40-50 years than Lydon.
Morrissey?
It's not very good either - which is usually quite a good qualification for a Eurovision entry, but this dirge is so dreary and boring I can see even the weirdest judges yawning, scratching their heads and jotting down 'nil points' before the first minute! That's not a very Eurovision song, would be surprised if it gets chosen
He he, that made me chuckle, like any of them are any good. It's not very good either.
Truly wondrous bolleaux right thereFantastic, sheer pantomime. This is not a love song.
Yeah, two previous 'outsiders' or anti-Establishment figures who were often brilliantly witty and entertaining, but who have become increasingly obnoxious and offensive, and will say anything to court controversy and remind us of their existence: Lydon endorsing Donald Trump as some kind of champion of the American working-class, and Morrissey now a supporter of Far Right groups like Britain First, and who has confessed his admiration for Nigel Farage.Trying to think of another celebrity who has changed more (both in themselves and public perception thereof) over 40-50 years than Lydon.
Morrissey?
Blimey, I thought that was Johnny Vegas for a minute! What a load of old tosh. Lydon should f*** off back to the butter mines, where he belongs.
For all the wrong reasons.Trying to think of another celebrity who has changed more (both in themselves and public perception thereof) over 40-50 years than Lydon.
Morrissey?
Was he seen as a great guy back in the day?!For all the wrong reasons.
Gary Glitter.
I kinda feel like both of them don't really have an actual position that they consistently stand by, they are just anti whatever the current cultural zeitgeist is. I feel like the Lydon and Morrissey of the late 70's / early 80's would 100% be against their modern day incarnations. They were Antifa before it was cool. And now that it's cool they've become fascists (a little hyperbolic, I admit) instead.Trying to think of another celebrity who has changed more (both in themselves and public perception thereof) over 40-50 years than Lydon.
Morrissey?
Yeah I get what you're saying. Whatever the majority agree with, they naturally feel uneasy with. But 70s Lydon would HATE 2023 Lydon with a flaming passion.I kinda feel like both of them don't really have an actual position that they consistently stand by, they are just anti whatever the current cultural zeitgeist is. They exist just to be contrarians.
