Comments made by people that probably haven’t been to a game overseas before.
That chap fighting the Roma fans must have been easy pickings for our OB to film and then get him to court.
Or incredibly stupid?

Looks like it, hopefully though when he returns he’ll be as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit for the rest of his natural where as the pub landlord for example, most people won’t bat an eyelid.
Odd one, assaulting one of our own presumably less of an issue as far as the courts are concerned than what some of the others did……..wonder whether the club will take any further action in respect of any of them

So did the Marseille thug get 3 years when some others got 5 ?
As with any sentencing there will be mitigating and aggravating factors taken into account when the bans are issued.

In all cases it appears there has been no conviction in a criminal court (this would take place in France) so the banning orders issued would be between 3 and 5 years.

First time offenders or those that admit their guilt early are likely to see a shorter band than those with previous or deny their involvement.

In this case the bloke inside the stadium who head butted a fellow fan, it appears he has admitted guilt and expressed remorse which would explain a shorter ban.

With the 4 fellas caught fighting away from the ground on CCTV, 3 of them didn’t turn up in court so offered no defence and the 4th denied he was involved claiming it was someone who looked like him, these are likely to be considered aggravating factors which has led to a longer ban.

Of course the club can issue their own stadium ban separate to any FBO, so the 3 and 5 year bans may not be the end of it and it could be a long time before those involved are able to attend Brighton games again.

I guess it's unlikely that the French authorities will be bothered to prosecute - so at the very least I would hope that the club do as you suggest could happen and give him a very very long (lifetime?) ban.

I would imagine a case of ‘never darken these doors again’. So bye bye ex-fan - forever.

This. Personally know of one fan who did the time for a crime and who was subsequently told to leave the club's Private Property ie the Amex by a senior steward before they'd even reached the turnstiles
