I’m not putting this on police on the ground at all, they have a tremendously hard job with few resources. But this made me laugh and shows the state of affairs.


We had officers come to a MH job on the beach. Suicidal person. Thankfully officers had the time to attend.

My team and the officers got the patient away from the sea and walked her back up to town.

I began walking towards a parked police car with the patient , assuming it was our officers’ vehicle.

I asked the officer to open the car..



PC “That’s not our car”

Me “Oh, where are going then”?

PC “I dunno, I was following you”



I didn’t have anywhere to put her. We got a good outcome for the patient in the end.

It was pretty funny but does show we are all largely winging it under the new systems and is having a serious impact on our ability to help people.

Actually I was hoping clapham-gull would post his or her stats about Twitter users' racist hate from the shires, not from London. I don't think your article addresses that.

For that matter, your article doesn't address racial hatred either. To Zoe Williams, it is apparent that callikng someone a "stone cold loser" is a racial insult - though I can't see why. To Zoe Williams, it is apparant that describing pro-Palestinian marches as "hate marches" is a racial insult directed at Khan, but again, I can't see why. Again, Zoe Williams thinks that wrongly quoting crime statistics is a racial insult directed at Khan, which surely surprises some of the people above who didn't realise their beliefs about London crime statistics were allegedly motivated by racism.

All she has got is Lee Anderson's comments about Khan and Islamism. (Not Islam, but Islamism.) That's not enough to be a large scale racial hatred campaign.

when i clicked on the link they were the three top stories ........i think you will find that spousal abuse is off the scale amongst the indigenous , but then again i have been hammered for putting that forward , if only the brains trust of NSC could get into parliament , you obviously have an answer to everything ...

I don't accept the argument that unless someone explains their motive then they cannot be accused of having one.

And when people say 'I'm not racist, but....' it does not absolve them from racism.

Trump and Farage are generally careful to not make explicitly racist statements. But people support them because they expect they will do racist things on their behalf if elected.

Anyway, I have been toying with the idea that the recent rioters need to be met half way, and that it is not their fault, so maybe targeting minorities needs to be accepted as a legitimate expression of Real Concerns.

I haven't made up my mind about this yet. Maybe some more eloquent explanations of why Farage is right about how to deal with 'illegal asylum seekers' and how a smile can be put back on the faces of the white dispossessed by responding to their concerns will tip the balance.

The homicide rate in London has remained almost static in the last nine years with 2017/18 (reporting periods cross years) being easily the highest.

Unfortunately you get this 'Londonistan no go area' nonsense from people who live nowhere near London on a regular basis and it's complete horseshit. People go to London all the time, for work, plays, food, seeing friends and relatives and tourism.

I think you and my son must be the luckiest two people in London. He's been there nearly 9 years now ever been threatened with a knife or gun and neither have me or Mrs Wz on our regular visits.

It doesn’t prove anything, but my son has lived in London for 5 or 6 years and was robbed/ mugged by 2 wa——s about 3 years ago, no knives involved , but nasty threats of violence if he didn’t hand over his phone, rucksack and wallet etc.
Not nice and pretty scary, so not everyone is ‘lucky’ in good old London Town.
