I forgot to mention, that when the biopsies were being taken, I did have a device inserted into my rectum, which showed the area of the prostrate to be targeted.
Indoor radar I called it.

Yes, I had the same thing.
It's certainly an unusual sensation, it's hard to resist the urge to try and push it out!

Received a letter this morning saying I've got T3b prostrate cancer . It was picked up on 1st mri last week . Really don't think it's right to receive this sort of news through the post ? Looking on Google it means the cancer has spread to nearby tubes but is treatable . I'm sort of relieved I know sort of whats going on but bloody angry it's come through the post leaving me guessing whats going to happen next .I'm a bit numb about it all at the moment and sitting out in garden drinking pineapple and black pepper gin probably not the best idea but hey ho

I guess there’s no easy way but if it happened to me I think I’d like to know asap BUT have a follow up consultation literally the same day to understand what the plan is. I wish you all the best with your treatment. I heard gin is an excellent medication!! Best wishes to you.

Blimey. I was under general anaesthetic for my biopsy. Wouldn’t have fancied that much! (Although, for a tangentially related issue, I have twice had a camera up the japs eye while awake. I would not recommend this).

Ugh. Sorry to hear that Ludensian.

We're still dealing with my wife's breast cancer (chemo starts on Friday) and know how devastating it can feel. It's easy to say, but hard to do, but try to stay calm and not get ahead of whatever your doctors tell you. They are the experts, not Google.

Had my biopsy today.
Undignified and uncomfortable but not painful.
Big hand for the staff at Eastbourne DGH,
explained everything before and during the procedure.
Just got to wait for the results now

Thanks mate,been trying to keep it as far back in my mind as possible. At the end of the day as you say worrying about it isn't going to change anything. Be glad to get biopsy results and get this 2nd MRI done though .

My Prostate cancer was picked up at the first MRI scan also, quickly followed by biopsy, that was quick and painless, all this means, it was picked up quickly, now having radiotherapy sessions, i decided not to research the condition and just go into it blind. I know it's a strange time, but have faith and trust in the professionals.

One piece of advice, if you are able to talk to others in the same position as you it will help. It’s a bit of a cliche but a problem shared and all that. Best wishes again.

i hit the top shelf when i got diagnosed , thought it was strange they wanted a second MRI as they are usually pretty conclusive and extremely detailed , the letter is downright average on their behalf though , drink whatever you want if it takes the weight off your shoulders , if they remove your prostate they take the seminal vesicles as well which could be the tubes they are referring to so it's no further loss , hope they act quickly and get you sorted out and on your way to recovery.....once again all the best with it and i'm sorry you've had this shithouse news in such an unsympathetic manner...x

Cheers mate, wishing your wife all the best . My wife went through the same thing 7 years ago, had a double mastectomy , couldn't take the chemotherapy as she was allergic to it ( ended up with sepsis twice ) her consultant said that the chemotherapy would kill her before the cancer so she had radiotherapy and is taking tablets for 10 years.

Luckily I had everything explained to me, as being me I asked questions above and beyond.
Similar to @Ludensian Gull i found out my results from another source, on my NHS app, where they were supposed to be locked until I saw my consultant.
Wasn't happy and was a massive shock.
Looking back now, going into the initial meeting, knowing I had cancer sort of helped the situation for me, as that elephant in the room was out of the way.
With my wife also there with me, we could barrage them with questions.
After being given my options, I came out of the room knowing what procedure I wanted.
Get the fvcking thing out and deal with the side affects later.

I have to say Worthing and now the Radiotherapy Centre at Preston Rd have all been marvellous with me, my GP kept intouch with me early days, i have had Prostap injections on a three monthly basis, my GP even prescribed one for me to take to Vietnam as i had a trip planned, i got a hospital in Nha Trang to administer it for me, but that's another story, i think it's good to stay positive and shout out any good experiences...

Had a call from hospital yesterday, asking me in on Thursday for a consultation with the Urology consultant to discuss biopsy findings. Prior to that I'm having bone scan earlier in the day ,so will hopefully have some answers and a plan of action by Thurs evening.
