I don't want to speak for @SeanInRome, but I think why he drops fans off in the Vatican-ish area is that he has a place that is friendly/relatively safe for people to drink and socialise post-match.

I was thinking if we use Sean, we'd then just get a cheap taxi right back to the door of our hotel, also Termini-ish, when the time came.

That's all fair enough. I think for people like me who are up at the crack of dawn it may just be more about the practicality of straight back to the hotel area for a night cap and a zonk without any more faff.

Any idea where the official coaches are dropping off?

For previous games, it also tends to be Termini.

Im with you on this. Other wise this will end up one step away from 'if you could take a left at the osteria antica, past the trattoria that serves a great carbonara (no cream) and drop me at the bar with the aperol parasols outside, that would be great and here is an extra euro for your troubles'

@SeanInRome Sounds a great idea tbf. Any idea atm what time you’ll be heading off from the Vatican pls? Just trying to see how that works with collecting match tickets (which I’ve still not seen details of via the Ckub yet).

Finally, we’ve got a train booked with Italo rail on the 8th to Milan as flying back late that night. Do you think the strike will impact every train company or is it pretty random. Cheers

I'll answer this bit, as Sean already has. He believes that Italo trains should mainly run, as it's a private company, but there may be delays as the trains are running on state-owned lines.

Cheers for that. Will just have to factor in enough time I guess

Cheers dude. I found one near the station which had really good reviews and decent price called hotel rossi.
I think I mixed you up yesterday with someone who was leaving to Milan at 7am that’s why I chos
Sean. You mentioned pick up near the Vatican. As there are many staying in the train terminal area, any chance of pick up there. Similar with post match bar. Would be great to be together safely in a bar, but it could be a long way from our hotel. Staying Via Carlo Alberto area.
Good Morning,

Going to the stadium we cannot do 2 runs with the police escort and I choose the Vatican area really as it’s the safest/most policed area in Rome everyday and not just game day.
Also,I do the Vatican area as it has plenty of good food, drink options(also bad so be careful where you sit) and to get away fans out and see a little bit of this beautiful city.
On the way back we’ll do a drop off at the Vatican and a drop off at Termini.
Heads up to all staying at Termini, just keep your wits about you and try not to be walking around there at night alone or drunk.

Thanks Bozza,

We’ve decided we will do a drop off at the Vatican(Safe Bar) and a second drop off at Termini Station
Keep in mind those going to Termini that it’s not a great area in the evening times and approximate arrival time after the game would be 10.35-10.50pm
Anyone wanting to have some beers and food without any worry/stress after the game then I’d suggest you take the Vatican stop and later taxi share back to Termini which would cost 20-25, max 30€ in 3/4

The private trains should still run with slight delays and we’ll keep you all updated and will help with a last minute solution should a problem occur.
The walking tour will finish near St.Peters at 2/2.15pm and I’ll offer a beer at a friends restaurant (Trattoria MarcAntonio).
Plenty of food options in the area too should one not like Italian food.
Check in time with us will be latest 4pm and departure time probably 30/45minutes afterwards.
This will be up to the police as they usually prefer to get us to the stadium before all the mess with the standing buses.
As for picking up tickets,we also keep an eye on this and factor it into our time schedule

@SeanInRome thanks for all your information on here first of all, very much appreciated.

Do you have a deadline for booking or max number of places? Also do you get a mix of ages? I will be with my 17 year old son who wanted to know if it would just be "oldies"? :lolol:

Over the years doing this it’s always been a more experienced aged traveler.
Younger guys tend to take the free buss as they’ve not had enough bad away days to know the difference in comfort.
We do always have a hand full of younger people but I don’t know this until match day.
Anyway around the Vatican plenty of young people to look at,not that I look at young people 😂

Thanks, your first line describes me perfectly but definitely not him. I'll have a think and a chat.
