Also, it was made very clear in the announcement Kate made that telling the children was deliberately held off until they broke up from school so they did not have to go to school under the glare of journalists after just being told their Mum had cancer.The Palace were vague but basically honest about her condition from the start. They said she was having a major operation and would be out of action for months, while was both 100% correct and also vague.
The difficulty comes after the cancer was diagnosed. Now, I presume it isn't expected that she would go straight from the doctor to the press office and announce the cancer, and let her children pick it up off social media. Even the most ardent critic would expect her to tell the children first.
How soon should that have been? It's been a month. How long would have been too long?
