Just enjoying this beautiful commemoration of HRH Prince Phillips life, interesting that Her Majesty The Queen travelled with and was escorted to her seat by the Duke of York, a public sign of her support for him and a first step to a return to public duties?

Not watching personally but can you advise if James hewitt and his son Harry are in attendance?

I don't follow closely but wasn't there a massive spat about Harry not being allowed to pay for royal protection security for his family - so he's not there ?

It's almost as if the rich and powerful can do just as they please and get away with it.

Who'd have known.

Yes, there was.

The Duke of York is entitled to go to his own father's thanksgiving service regardless of his past. It isn't approval but carry on.

I have to disagree there. He had been removed from public life by his mother just a few short months ago.

Whilst some nonces spend their entire lives in prison (and rightly so) he has had no more than a smack on the wrist.

Let's not forget that he paid over £12 million pounds to somebody he never met for a thing he never did. An innocent person would never have done that. He is entitled to the square root of SFA.

I do not defend him in any way, but he hasn't gone through a criminal trial to go to prison.
Even prisoners are allowed to go to family funerals when released. He was removed from public duties not public life. He's not locked away in the castle.

The Duke of York didn't sit next to the Queen he merely escorted her to her seat and then sat with the other Royals.

Far from it Dear Crodo, he probably drew the short straw and also owes his Mum a large sum of money given his recent out of court settlement he had to pay to that woman he claims he never met.........

Indeed. He'll have to part with a lot of his HARD-EARNED money.

There is a royal protection squad who are armed. Prince Harry is no longer entitled but wasn't allowed to bring his own armed bodyguard.
Now from my vague memory he said his private security couldn't handle the visit and he would need British state security - which he would pay for himself. But it wasn't allowed.

Harry was entitled to protection while he was on official royal business. I think we can assume he and the missus had other business in mind as well, hence the toys out the pram.

He isn't on official royal business any longer. A family funeral service isn't official business. See Blue Valkyrie's post.

So you and BV think Harry wouldn't have benefitted from security at the memorial service alongside the rest of his family? Of course he would. My point is that apart from the Memorial Service, he wouldn't have security to toddle off meeting mates and making money.

What part of he wasn’t allowed is hard to believe?

He would have been attending as part of the royal party with his grandmother, his father and his brother. No way the security team wouldn't protect him as well. Just because he wasn't allowed his own security team doesn't mean he wouldn't have been protected at the memorial service when everyone around him was.

At least they weren’t there to steal the attention away from the point of the service.

Yes, assuming your point is that that is exactly what they did by kicking up a fuss and not attending, they really are a couple of nasty bar stewards!
