All these people who blather on about "why can't I have a straight Pride parade" are talking out of your backsides.

Technically, the festival is entitled simply "Pride in Brighton & Hove". Not Gay Pride, not Transsexual Pride, not "Deviant Pervert Pride", as NMH would have it. It's just Pride, and designated as a celebration of sexuality, whatever that may be.

If you wanted to have a Straights float in the parade, the organisers would no doubt let you, as (lets be honest here) they are far more open minded and tolerant than you would ever be.

But then again I guess most of the moaners on here would never have the balls to run a float in a parade for the gays, would you...

I spent the whole of Saturday working in Preston Park. I saw six or seven people wearing Albion shirts, plus numerous other football shirts (who says gay men are unfailingly stylish), including most improbably of all, an Oldham Athletic top.


Apart from the fact that I was slowly frying in all my kit, it was a quality day, and I know as many straight people as gay people who went along. Granted, the park eventually turns into a complete bombsite, but not much more so than West Street on your average Friday night, just with fewer kebabs.

However the things that these same people think of - are perversions and they may actually like these things BECAUSE they are beyond the realms of what is socially considered normal sex.
My opinion is, that homosexual relations are in that category - simple as that.

I'm not out there throwing things at homosexuals or refusing to talk to people once I know they are gay - although I have actually been discriminated against BY homosexuals for being straight!! (refused service in a gay bar for not accepting a drink from the manager, shunned and insulted by a 'friend' because I didn't want to sleep with him - oh so open minded and 'tolerant'!)

I accept them, so they accept my view on homosexuality. For some people, homosexuality isn't so all-consuming and important. If they were paedophiles it would certainly be a different matter and beyond mere acceptance of viewpoint. I would take my 'bigoted views' of their paedo behavior and report them to the authorities, or if I caught them doing it.... well I might just get more historic than Victorian on their ass.
