Had my annual review with my IFA [pensions / tax / investments - no mortgage] last week.
Mentioned Mrs SS had £10k of PBs and not won anything for 3 months in a row now.
He suggested selling them all and then buying them back again a month later, maybe even in my name.
He caveated, don't know why, but this seems to help start winning again ....
Only thing that will guarantee is that you won't win anything for the first month after you do it!

Upped my investment by £5k yesterday. Gone from £4k to £9k. Small in comparison but having not won in over 3 years I’m interested in what happens April 1st.

I’m sure the mechanism has been renewed or upgraded many times since, but about 18 years ago through work, I met a gent who had been working for NS&I, and his last project was some statistical distribution work to analyse a perceived anomaly in ERNIEs true random performance. The hypothesis was that bonds early in life were performing very marginally better than bonds later in life. He was even able to prove through his analysis that if you cashed once a year, and re-bought the same amount, thereby only participating in 11 draws out of 12, you would potentially win marginally more. It was very marginal, but at the time, an anomaly. I’ve never followed it because I just can’t be arsed, but I know some who still do, even though this must have been ironed out with the advance of technology.

From July the Premium Bonds prize pool has been increased by 0.4% to 3.7%.

Odds remain 24,000 to 1, but there are significantly more £100k, £50k, and £25k prizes.

For perspective, a year ago there were just 6x prizes paying £100k... from July, there will be 71.

What's the most you've ever won on the Premium Bonds? I've literally never won more than £25...! But I think it's a safe place to keep your money, and a bit of a guilt free punt.
Never had more than about £800 in PBs. A couple of £25 tickles.
Currently holding only 100, cos I needed the cash.
Times are hard. 🥺

Have I got this right! Winners from £5000 - £1000,000 are notified on the 1st of the month and any amount under that on the 2nd day of the month?
