“a reticence to get up close to sweary opposition players that might be infected with a deadly virus. “

Reminds me of watching the reserves at The Goldstone back in the day. Anybody who thinks games without fans are quiet had better think again... the small band of supporters could hear the players calling to each other all the time . Will they blank out the sound?

I see La Liga and Seria A clubs are both back to group training today. Prem clubs back to group training tomorrow subject to agreement this morning. The inevitable march towards June re-starts in all three leagues continues.

Bundesliga completed a round of fixtures with no significant problems at the weekend so we have a demonstration that the logistics of closed doors matches under Covid measures are achievable.

We must be getting close to 100% certainty of a Prem re-start, just left to decide whether it will be the 12th or 19th of June...

Looking very likely it will re-start at the moment.

What's the latest on how games will, or won't be, televised?

It's more likely than it is not. However, any restart is still very vulnerable to the slings and arrows.

I think the idea is that Sky and BT Sport will retain all the games they would normally have chosen to show on their subscription services, and there is a discussion going on regarding the potential to show all of the remaining games (including Sat 15.00 games) and some of these could end up on the likes of Amazon and potentially free to air options like BBC. Government have said they would like some free to air games.

If the article below is correct, 79 games will be on BT / Sky, with 13 left to potentially share between the likes of BBC and Amazon

Serie A didnt go back today. They're still trying to get the government to drop the 15 day quarantine for whole squad after one positive test rule.

Thanks for that. Yeah well I agree with them- the rule for quarantining the whole squad scuppers the whole thing and doesn't work. Looks like Spain and Germany are requiring isolation of individual players only, I expect all leagues will follow suit eventually as the whole squad requirement is unworkable.

I think the neutral ground requirement will be binned come June. Too many clubs against it, and it creates more problems than it solves. E.g. if playing at home stadiums the home team players can drive to the stadium and back home individually which would reduce group travel etc.

99% of fans will stay at home and the Police can deal enact appropriate measures as they did in Germany at the weekend.

They'll restart, get a couple of games in, and then abandon it.

Unfortunately, Albion will have fallen into the bottom 3 due to these 2 games, meaning the Albion's litigation machine will be rolling into action.

Will there be sex dolls ?? Maybe on sale in the club shop ?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-52702075

I think that you may have hit on a solution there. Don't suppose anyone can afford 36,000 sex dolls but a good sprinkling of them throughout the Amex wearing Albion shirts might increase player motivation, especially if every goal scorer gets to take one home. No end to the possibilities with this...

Stephens would be banging the goals in for once.

Can anyone answer this? If clubs are going to have different squads then the season’s last drops of integrity have well and truly gone.

Can't find a link at the moment but I'd read that contracts will be extended to end July (supposedly the final date for completing the league) for those supposed to be ending 30/6, and that otherwise squads remain unchanged (ie you can't use returning loanees etc)
