Longer this goes on, the more EPL nonenties show their true colours as thick lottery winning equivalent wankers who just happen to be idiot savant enough to kick a football a bit better than the majority of their peers. Role Models my arse. Pure trash in the main

Can't find a link at the moment but I'd read that contracts will be extended to end July (supposedly the final date for completing the league) for those supposed to be ending 30/6, and that otherwise squads remain unchanged (ie you can't use returning loanees etc)

I think contracts can be extended, but only if the player agrees to stay for the extra month or so, they can't be forced to stay.

No player can be forced to sign a contract extension, and they need to sign one to make it binding.

I think there is a general agreement in players contracts that if they have not agreed a deal with another club they are paid an extra months wages so any out of contract players would still be paid until 31/07 (by which the vast majority of games if not all, will be played so long as you start by last week of June). If players want to leave they can but given the dire situation and loss of earnings for most PL clubs I can't imagine there being a huge appetite to sign players who would not be eligible until the new season, when there is no firm date when that will start, also I am sure that to get this season finished they're could/will be a gentlemans agreement amongst all PL/major European leagues to agree not to sign out of contract players until the close of the current season.

and what about players coming back from injury. Villa are often seen as a one many team but John McGinn is very good and certainly would be a major boost for them and what happens about signing a new player who leaves his old club. really don't understand why contingencies were not gone through in detail years ago given the mega money involved.

Thanks. So Chelsea as an example could end up with a weakened squad? Sure I remember reading they had several contracts due to expire.

And what if a club has a player lined up to sign on July 1st? Would they be able to play?

Obviously......point is though if a squad loses players though as a result of them not agreeing to the extension, they won't be able to add to their squad. Also, players will have to sign waivers in relation to Covid19 apparently.

There could well be players coming to the ends of their deals who don't want to play again this season, and would rather sit it out away from the risk before pocketing a fat signing on fee elsewhere in the future.

Definitely. Why risk a career-threatening injury for an extra month's pay ? Agent's would be advising against signing extensions in many cases I suspect. Glad we don't have many at the end of their contracts.................

I think that you may have hit on a solution there. Don't suppose anyone can afford 36,000 sex dolls but a good sprinkling of them throughout the Amex wearing Albion shirts might increase player motivation, especially if every goal scorer gets to take one home. No end to the possibilities with this...

I'll have a look in my loft

So the PL decide to play on but the players must take the risk. PL clubs want it all their own way and I am quite uncomfortable that my club is one of them. Given that these waivers were not in place when contracts were agreed I would be surprised if the players agree to it.

Yep - I can see a lot of opposition to it, possibly to the extent it derails Project Restart completely.

These waivers sound really dodgy.

Not sure why anyone, footballer or not, would sign one.

Yeah. There has to be an 'acceptable' amount of risk but who would sign 'If you get ill and die due to taking part in your wholly unnecessary and non-keyworker job, then *insert name of club* take no responsibility'.

Reports suggesting that any player who tests positive will isolate for 7 days, so the 'whole squad having to isolate' thing has been ditched.

Just need to ditch the neutral grounds idea and agree a start date now -12th or 19th June :clap2:
