It certainly will add some weight to the PL following France’s lead . I suspect because of the money involved , we will keep trying to start to play and then eventually concede defeat in early June. Just a hunch . I think there are just too many obstacles to make it work .

From tomorrow, daily death figures will include those in care homes and in the community.
Just when numbers appear to be falling, I wonder if this will give the government reason to continue with lockdown measures. I wonder too, what affect this will have on decisions to resume football in the coming months

Might also be that if the Government are expecting the numbers for hospital deaths to start dropping it would keep minds focused on the lockdown, because you know if it starts dropping some idiots will be straight out with "Yay! Get the pubs open!"

Aren’t the overall rolling trend lines for new cases, and deaths by date of death, the key parameters looked at?

If the UK adds care home deaths without also adding care home cases I will be able to detect that from my statistic.

The PL has to let UEFA know whether they will or won't finish the season by May 25th.

It’s taken you to get to this age in life to find your true worth :D

Trust me, mate, I'm full of it. New methods for this, new ways of analysing that. Every one a winner, too :lolol:

And Lamie, for what it's worth, Harry has a command of words the like of which I have never seen before. Many of his words have
more than 425 syllables.

You're being silly now. Stop it. ???

Prem/FL plan to finish season behind closed doors in JULY

I agree. However, have you got the right thread for that????

Nope, couldn’t delete and repost though

In an attempt to redeem myself, have seen a few tweets indicating the French League may be considering using the season mid-point (after all the teams had played each other once) to decide placings........

I've long been of a mind that this season will not finish, there will come a point where its just not practical / doable, ESPECIALLY as several European leagues have smelled the coffee and binned off their season now. We need some conformity across Europe - you can't have Holland / Belgium / France leaving their seasons incomplete so they can start afresh later in the year, while the PL cling stubbornly to the notion that they'll get this season finished by hook or by crook, whenever that may be.

The writing is on the wall. Recommencing football in the next 2/3 months will carry huge risks for all involved, and at the first SNIFF of a player, manager or official getting Coronered, it'll all grind to a halt again and we'll be back to square one.

UEFA should step in now, take the lead and make a sensible decision, set a sensible deadline, and if it can't be met, this season is voided. All the Leagues should accept and fall in line behind it. We might not like it, but at least it provides some clarity and enables everyone to plan for next season with a clean slate.
