If it's of a reasonable level of safety, which looks likely, yes I am hoping. Definitely prefer football (even behind closed doors) to no football.

But fair enough if you don't.

The safety of all those involved is all that matters to me. But even if that can be guaranteed (as far as humanly possible), I have little interest in watching a rush back to finish the remainder of this season off behind closed doors. Although I fully accept that most, if not all of the new season will likely have to be played behind closed doors anyway.

So what would you think if it was suggested to be likely that those involved will actually be safer than the rest of us general public, due to massively, massively increased and monitored testing?

By the way, throughout all this I just want to clarify that I am NOT #teamrestart no matter what.

I hope the season is able to be completed to a reasonable level of safety (ie no higher risk than other people going back to work in non-essential services), otherwise it shouldn't happen.

We are going round in circles here though aren't we. People are going back to work and social distancing, or wearing PPE, not chasing a pig's bladder around a patch of grass to entertain the masses and raise morale...

Dont you think the whole debate about PL return has been going round in circles for the last two months?
You highlighted money as though that was a bad thing...I’m drawing a comparison...industries are starting to go back to work because its money.....yes levels of risk...which i keep asking those who dont want football to return what level should it fall to and what measure ..just chucking it out there.

No, I highlighted money over health in the name of entertainment.

I don't believe the premise that 'massively, massively increased and monitored testing' would make those involved 'safer'.

This is a close contact sport, ergo social distancing, required for all those going back to 'non essential' work, is impossible.

Let's be clear. Money and entertainment are the drivers here. Or else, why isn't amateur close contact sport being discussed for as swift a return as possible too?

Because it's not realistic (or beneficial to the economy, as you say, money is undoubtedly a major driver) to massively increase testing and safety for Old Goring Wanderers Cricket Club and thousands of similar local clubs.

Fair enough. I think we'll just have to agree to disagree there. I believe it will, and my unqualified belief is that the science supports that.

I think most would agree with that

Yep, we're going round in circles and will have to agree to disagree on the testing/safety thing

You were doing so well with your post, I was nodding along in agreement at much of it, until that bit... So it is money above possible health implications then!
To be fair, most of us accept the principle of putting money ahead of health considerations to some degree. If any of us were offered a good sized bonus for doing a job 100 miles from home for a week or two, there is every chance that we would take the health risk of driving a bit further for the sake of the money.

Of course, if the bonus is 50p and the distance is 1,000 miles, we wouldn't. It's a matter of balancing the risk and the reward. But we none of us work on the basis that we will take no risk whatsoever.

Don't think this has been posted here. Norwich would go to court if they were relegated after finishing the season and there was still promotion from the championship without it being completed.
