I actually believe that Southgate picked him knowing what would happen and that he would be able to speak out the way he did. It wasn't a game where England were ever going to drop points. It was a completely cynical act designed purely to make Southgate look good, like quite a few of his selections.
Southgate saw how the media destroyed previous England managers and has done everything to get them on his side, giving unprecedented access to players - even down to getting them to join in games of darts with journalists at the team hotel. And that includes a few people who should never be allowed near sharp objects in the normal course of events.
The clincher for me was Grealish. I know from a mutual acquaintance that he detested him for all the off-the-field stuff and didn't intend to have him anywhere near the squad - until influential voices in the media that he needed to keep on his side demanded it.
Perhaps if certain aspects of English front, and back page, journalism wasn't quite so loathsome, GS wouldn't feel the need to 'show some ankle', in order to do his job.

Maupay always puts in a shift and has a great engine to make like uncomfortable for defences. Making space for Trossard and others I’d suggest.

Do the Norwich board get rid of Daniel Farke and bring in a capable Premier League manager like Eddie Howe with the promise of money in January or end up being relegated in early April without a fight? Cos I'd be so pissed off at getting up at bàstard o'clock for a 12.30 kick-off travelling from Norfolk and the match over after 18 minutes.

Doesnt matter who manage this team, they are going down. Cant see Howe being willing to take this job anyway.

Well it makes a change from losing to bottom 3 teams. Do the words Sheffield and Utd. ring a bell?
Dunno. Least Sheff had injuries and some fairly close games.
