If he were to go to a bigger club then I wouldnt begrudge him, but I would like to see us compensated to the tune of approx £2m before we even start thinking about it.

Unless it was a Premiership club that made a bid, I think Gus would be unhappy with Tony Bloom if he let him go to a fellow Championship club. As said above minimum £2 million, a few good games in the Championship and his value would even exceed that considering his lengthy contract. I would like to think we are no longer a selling club unless clubs start throwing silly money at us!

I absolutely love Benno now, his reaction to us winning on sat was class. You could just tell He was loving it. Didn't look like the sort of player lookin to jump ship at the 1st opportunity anyhows

I think we'll keep Bennett. I'm less optimistic over Murray, I think Gus' post-match comments about 'no one thought ronaldo would leave man utd' might have been about him... though i suppose it could be about other players - but only marquee name fan favourites :s

The problem is that once one goes, they might all go - like dominoes. We saw this at Swindon with Greer, Paynter, and Austin and look at the state of them now.

Keep Benno unless we are offered silly money, and I mean £4m to be honest. Then make sure the Bridcutt and Dicker deals are both sorted ASAP seeing as they don't appear to be surrounded by the same transfer speculation as Murray. Murray's signature would be very welcome too, and signing other lynchpins back to the club would be a statement of intent that could influence Murray, but if he doesn't sign at least lets get it sorted with most of the summer to plan for a replacement.

No one thought Ronaldo would leave Man Utd!!! Christ, Gus must have been the only person on the planet who didn't think Ronaldo would leave rainy Manchester for sunny Spain where he could top up his tan and play for his boyhood idols Real Madrid.

despite the transfer request, i cannot see bennett going in the summer now unless it is to a premiership club - and any premiership club would be taking a major major risk in paying what we should demand for a player who has never even been a regular starter in the championship

murray on the other hand i fear will be playing against us next season rather than for us

heh yeah i thought this too... i took him to mean that shocking transfers can sometimes happen... and Fergie did at least TRY to make it seem like he wouldn't go with the 'wouldn't sell that mob a virus' comment... but yes it was still a raised eyebrow moment when he said it!

There needs to be a wage cap including the premiership, so a player only jumps clubs because he feels he has a better opportunity and not because of the money. Everyone is the same then.

Look at the state of poor old Plymouth now, Swindon, Sheff Wed, Charlton, Leeds, Middlesborough, and these are just a few. Prime examples of over spending trying to get to, or get back to the promised land.

I just hope we are going to be sensible about wages, because I don't want to be reading a headline in the Argus 5 years down the road that reads "Albion up for Sale", does anyone remember that?

We need to be realistic and we need to be patient, but what I don't want is what another poster said a domino effect. That would be a bloody disaster.

But of course the main difference being that Swindon failed in their Championship bid and cashed in while those players were being sought after. We of course are in the Championship, at the start of a new era, and don't have to sell. Of course there is always a danger of losing the out of contract players, but I'm sure Gus and Tony Bloom have factored that into the vastly improved budget Gus will have for next season.

Norwich may well be a prem club come next August. And if so it would be wrong to stand in Benno's way if they still wanted him but only if price is right.

But to another championship club??? Bloom is an astute business man and will know well that keeping the best players is not only beneficial to the teams results/success, it also ensures full stadiums, and with the plans to extend Stadium to 30k and all the extra revenue that brings, that business model would not involve selling all our best players.

What? So the people who are the very top of their profession earn the same money as the people who are much lower down it? How can that possibly be fair?

There should be a maximum a player can earn in each division, because at the moment player wages are not sustainable. For example next season, If we cannot afford to pay someone 15k a week in wages how are the others doing it?

It depends what the cap is - if it was £100k a week for example, then those low down the profession would not earn the same as those at the top. It's not the most crazy idea, with teams like Man City having a limitless budget it could make a mockery of the game.

Maybe because others have been in a new stadium getting 20,000 crowds for years, where as we will have only just moved in?

From your logic, how is it fair that we happen to have a super-rich Chairman who could afford to basically buy us a stadium, where as most others don't?

True, but then even if there was a cap like that then how would it stop players moving up to higher divisions for more money? If I was a player and knew there was a salary cap at the top then I'd want to get as high up and close to it as possible as soon as possible as there would be a limit to the amount of money you could earn in such a short career.

Which is why I'm hoping the good form shown by Cardiff and Reading keeps up. Cardiff can take the second automatic spot and Reading can do Norwich in the play offs.

Very true. You would not be able to stop players moving up, so my plan is floored here. However it would possibly stop players leaving the club for a club in the same division.
