There should be a maximum a player can earn in each division, because at the moment player wages are not sustainable. For example next season, If we cannot afford to pay someone 15k a week in wages how are the others doing it?

Great idea that it is I would bet that the EEC would start screaming restraint of trade, instead of a Bosman we could have a 'Murray'.

Very true. You would not be able to stop players moving up, so my plan is floored here. However it would possibly stop players leaving the club for a club in the same division.

I don't think you should be able to stop players moving up anyway, they should want to test themselves at the top level and it isn't right for us to stand in their way. But yes, moving to another club in the same division for more money is different.

That said, if another company the same size as the one I work for wants me to go and work there on a lot more money than I am on at my current company, then why shouldn't I do it? And that is in a career that I am likely to have to work in for 40 years, unlike football where it would be more like 15 years!

Money talks and you couldn't blame Bennett for moving on if he chose to.

It will help if we could get one of the out-of-contract stars to re-sign early to send a signal to the rest of the squad. Inking deals for the likes of Dicker and Bridcutt would help keep the crew together as well. It's so key to try and offer improved deals before 9th May when the post-season celebrations will subside and emotion could give way to purely financial considerations.

This is an incredibly important point. While the lads are together and riding the wave of enjoyment, we need to get the deals done...as soon as they all go their seperate ways for the summer, the chances of them being lured away are FAR greater.
