Why is everyone talking as if he's already gone?

There was some utter clown on talksport earlier dong just that. It all media speculation and nothing has changed since yesterday. Stop panicking!

Not sure if this detail of yesterday's happenings at Gatwick have been seen by many

"Mr Poyet was there particularly early and staff were briefed to look after his wife whilst Mr Poyet was in the meeting.

Arrived with a Mr Barber in a chauffeur limousine. Mr Barber accompanied Mr Poyet into the meeting.

Assuming Mr Barber is his PA?"

This was posted on a British Airways Frequent Flier site by a Gatwick insider.

In addition it is claimed the meeting was in an office hired by Reading FC

This is the thread where this is discussed. It does seem he was in negotiations about something... (although I see those were 'First Class Mole's first and only threads on that forum!)

I am the messenger, so don't shoot me, but I have just spoken to a friend who is a reporter in the sports department of the BBC and is a football specialist. This is what he said about the Reading job:

"I'm told Adkins won't be going and that Poyet is mulling it over. Suspect he will go."

That is all.

Even if Reading come down and they will, he will probably double his wages because of the parachute money. If he manages to keep them up he'll get a massive bonus.. He probably wants to stay with you although he believes at this stage you only have a slim chance of promotion. You wont make 2nd spot so its a lottery even if you do make the play offs. I believe they discussed terms prior to the flight also compensation, that is why Barber was present and he's thinking it over while supping a pina colada on a beach in Barbados right now......
He'll be gone by tonight

But the BBC are not reporting this at all. or anything about the job.

Tony Bloom may want to improve Poyet's employment terms if Reading are serious. He could go, but I hope we put up a fight.

Sam Watson in the I has got the deal done and dusted, but he also says that we didn't buy a striker in the Jan window,so I reaslly don't know how reliable he is.

As someone who saw this come up yesterday, ignored it and has come back today to see nothing has changed, I feel slightly less downbeat than some others here. At the moment, the only Sky Sports article about this is:

POYET FAVOURITE: Sky Sources understand Brighton boss is set for Reading talks

Now I am pretty sure that Sky, in their eagerness to "bring you breaking news first" would be all over any actual detail related to this, and present it as fact. But all they can put in their headline is that "sources understand" that he is "set for talks"?

And he is in Barbados while this is going on?

I dunno, I can be very naive at times so he could well leave, but I just don't see anything going on here, at least not yet. My hope is that he doesn't go, and we can all learn a little more about the workings of the media, betting markets and so on.

And why as a palace fan do you feel the need to add your opinion ?
