That's what you get when one government has spunked money it never had, and borrowed enough to cripple us for generations. Then the next lot come in and proceed to kill all signs of life that were left in the economy! What is really worrying is what option will there be for the next elections? I can see UKIP and the far righ/left parties having a field-day.

It would be better to go to Oz, and do a bunk to stay there!

The strong AUD has more to do with the fact Oz has a resources boom and are flogging an Ayers Rock of minerals every month to China. A weaker GBP will actually help exports, but a suntan will cost more..

AUD way too high. Exports are sufferring, retail is competing against foriegn online goods. Cost of paying import tax and port costs in AUD also increasing import codts when we should be seeing prices drop. Cost of labour putting off companies investing here. But at least the mining sector is good ....

Very this. Cheap foreign holidays are not more important than maintaining our manufacturing base. FACT

Yes, and we'd have therefore blamed the Tories if they'd been in government instead of labor and left the horrible mess labor did. I think the lot of them are useless.

This. Too many politicians are just in it for themselves and nothing more.

Looks like it's about to go even further down the toilet - just dipped under $1.50. Time to transfer some dollars back to Blighty I think.

Markets hate uncertainty, and whatever your views on the EU, the decision to have a referendum in 3-4 years time has created a bucketload of it.

Dare I say I'm delighted, without too much flack. I shifted much of my finances off shore once the Tories got in, as historically they screw up the economy worse than Labour and there is money to be made from it. Sorry!

Made all my money under labour, massive government spending, being paid out by idiots that shouldn't be in charge of allocating pocket money. Keep politicians hands off taxes, it won't happen, but until the exchequer is independent then the downward spiral will continue. Cyprus will be a drop in the ocean compared to where we will be in 10 - 15 years time, our debt is increasing exponentially and our inability to repay the interest on these loans is getting closer by the day, for all the whinging thats going on at the moment in this country with these non cuts, brace yourselves because in a minute we will start throwing the heaviest weights out of the balloon. Bigger cuts are coming, more spineless leaders will come first unfortunately!!!
