There was a link to a podcast interview on here a while back, where Potter pretty much said he didn't want the England job. He mentions the abuse good managers have had in the past and that his skills rely on the day to day interactions with players, which you don't get at international level. I was worried about the England job for a long time, but after listening to that interview he really didn't seem interested in it in the slightest.

You don’t think he will have to do a shit load more media facing shite as Chelsea manager than he would as Englands?

Of course, but only the Burberry-wearing chavs are really interested in what he has to say. With England it’s every man and his dog piling in

The England manager's job is a poisoned chalice, no doubt about it. Short of winning a major trophy you will be deemed a failure.

Southgate is in fact, one of the most successful managers of recent times, in at least guiding England to a World Cup semi-final, and the final of the European Championships, but even that hasn't stopped him from being vilified by Joe Average on the streets.

I don't much like the man, (for obvious reasons), or the football that he plays, but it is difficult not to feel at least some sympathy for him.
