Was damn right he when I said he wouldn't go to Spurs or Everton though like many worried about.
As I said, Englishmen appear to think that the England job is the most attractive one there is. It isn't. The idea is just a result of some deluded patriotic hubris.

It IS more attractive than Brighton and Hove Albion to any manager with ambition though. I think he would have taken it if offered whilst he was here.

Yeah nothing screams "AMBITION!" like taking what is essentially a part-time job, at most, to participate in a competition every second year, having pretty much zero time for player development and little impact over what happens to your team, giving away most of the responsibility to various club managers.

Howe could be a candidate indeed.
Sarina Wiegman is probably another, but wouldn't look good to kind of steal her from... themselves.
Steve Cooper got the most out of Sancho, Foden, Guehi and a few other England yoofs when they won the U17 World Cup in 2017, and can't be ruled out.
Sean Dyche is another possible name.
Gerrard, Lampard, Wilder and Smith are probably also going to be in the discussions but for the first two it probably depends on if they have club jobs or not at that point.

What kind of ambition is that? You barely ever see the players to do any actual work, have almost no opportunity to shape the performances, get absolutely slaughtered if you fall short of winning the WC or Euros and if you do a load of smug prats will line up to claim you only managed it because you got an easy draw, and another load of deluded bellends will shout incoherently that you should have won more easily by putting Grealish on to run around ineffectually and then fall over.
International management is a cop out for people who don't want or can't get a proper job. There's about 20 clubs in England alone that would, on various levels, appeal to any sane manager more.

I think Eddie Howe would be a good fit. The players would like him (which is the reason why Southgate has managed to achieve) and he's a decent tactician.
Southgate may resign anyway. I do have a feeling. I think we are looking at a Quarter Final exit to France, which is no shame, but he may decide it's enough.

Cooper I reckon. Hasn’t signed a new contract (meaning he’ll be cheap), and been involved at junior levels, which fits the ‘narrative’. Think he’ll do ok as well.

You don’t think he will have to do a shit load more media facing shite as Chelsea manager than he would as Englands?
I imagine it’s based on media reports that those on £1m a year are £55k per annum better off.
Therefore, if Potter is on £12m a year then he’ll be £12k a week better off.

Don't know how much money he has given to charity etc in Brighton but I know he gave a lot when he had been in Östersund a while and was making decent money there (he got like £100k a year in his last few seasons).
