First we had Hughton who some people obviously thought he should have spelt it Houghton, now we have Connolly, who people think should have an 'e' instead of the second 'o'. It's like Albion always have to have someone whose name some people will never learn how to spell! Who's next if Connolly moves on in the summer? 'Lampty' perhaps?

We've also got Wellbeck and McAllister........................

Never forget Knockheart - that one REALLY annoyed me. A lot of people claimed him as their favourite player, but not enough to spell his name correctly.

Some people struggle with Zeqiri, which seems pretty straight forward to me. vagabond.

Sorry for my second quote of yours this morning (in about 4 posts) but there's a lot to unpack in that:-

1. Traditionally English managers haven't proved themselves.
Sure there's all manner of reasons why that might be, one being the Alladycing of managerial appointments, holding back everyone else.
If an English manager with the right attitude, so not Smug Eddie, were able to punch above his level, he'd be like catnip to a top team.

2. TB doesn't demand Top 10 one day and sell the family silver the next.
I think one of our starters will leave, for big big money.
I'd be more surprised by two leaving than I would none.
Four that just isn't happening - never.

3. Matt Doherty and Ryan Sessegnon as his wing-backs, Son, Moura, Alli, Lo Celso, Hojbjerg, Ndombele, Alderweireld, Berwijn, Reguilon, Lloris, Rodon and c. £100 million of Kane money
That's a huge leap of faith to assume the Kane money is being reinvested.
Sure, Alderweireld & Lloris aside, that's an excellent but flawed (like only a Spurs team can be) start off point, but there's no way, absolutely no way, next season's goal is another 7th place.

They think they are a big 6 side.
They think they are a Champion League side.
So they think they are top 4.

Any manager being interviewed must be asking:-

'What are the expectations for next season?'
'Is Kane leaving?'
'How much of that money is being reinvested?'

They are still looking for a manager having interviewed at least 6 candidates.
Although not demanding I do think TB’s recent top ten is achievable statement is a nudge to all concerned.

I've never seen something like this. Why the hell is each approach being made public? It's utterly shambolic.

Yes because oddly enough he's the only manager left that they haven't asked.

Potter wouldn't join them whatever they offer. Nobody wants to be 37th choice.

I don't agree, Tony has made it clear that we need to start progressing.Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean top 10 finish but it does mean above 15th. He made it clear he was happy with the performances.

Graham Potter has a lot to do. He needs to keep Sanchez and White (if he is still here) progressing. He needs to get Alzate and Connelly to progress Connelly seems to be going through an of field crisis and Potter and the club needs to figure out how to help him (that could be either arm round the shoulder, kick up the backside or taken out of the spot-light by playing at a lower level and getting his focus on football back, its Potter and the clubs place to find the solution).

Are we going to get Lampty right with his injuries hes had. We have had Karbownik and Caicedo acclimatising since end of Jan. One was a goldenboy nominee last summer the other, one of the highest rated south American kids. Can he intergrate them? Will it be at the expense academy products coming through this season?

If we get these right we could make that progress Tony was on about even if we do sell players like Bissouma and we don't get all the players in that we want. Potter would then have earn't his reputation. It isn't easy and could go completely wrong but this is the route we have chosen to go down.

Agree with all that, except I don't think that Potter would be on the "break" side of make or break if our league position was no better than this season, as long as performances are still high level.

Any body that says there are no replacement for Potter are about to be shocked. Palace are about to appoint one.A manager who brings youth through and plays decent football, Just like Potter before he came here he has never had a job with less than a 40% win rate. So anyone that says there are no Potteresque managers out there, Palace have found one.

After a summer of intense searching and negotiations, we have decided to give Ryan Mason the opportunity to continue his excellent work.

News Flash

Crystal Palace are hoping to be able to offer the manager's job to all over-40's by the middle of next week.

Beaky being bold by appointing a younger manager. Fair play.
