Leaving here would be a gamble whoever it would be going to.

Everton would be a step up, but not so much of a step up that it would be an easy decision for him. Could be sacked by Xmas if things aren't going well.

Highly doubt he would take the risk considering how well things are going here right now. Who knows, it's possible we could finish above them next season.

How well? We finished 16th, a poorer finish than the season before. The offer to go to a side who have been in the top flight continuously for near enough 70 years would be a hard one to turn down. Let's just hope he isn't offered it, then at least we don't have to contemplate it

That leaves Eddie Howe and Frank Lampard out of work. Potter seems a better option than both of them. Hmm...

I'm with the bookies expecting Nuno to join Everton and Palace to end up with Steve Cooper.

Eddie Howe is waiting in the shadows for the Southampton meltdown to begin. Once they make a poor start Ralf will be on his way.
If Saints end up losing the likes of Ward-Prowse, Ings or Vestergaard so their Chinese owner can get some cash back then maybe Ralf might be gone earlier than expected.

I think Everton is a harder job than people realise. In terms of a rebuild it may be second only to the Palace job, but at least there they have 17 out of contract they can ship out for nothing. Everton have a lot under contract on huge salaries with declining resale values that will be hard to shift in a cash-strapped, Covid-affected market.

It will be hard for the new manager to exceed the 10th place Ancelotti achieved. At a push they might overtake Leeds and West Ham but will probably be leapfrogged by Villa if Grealish stays.

Feels like there’s been a few of these “is Potter staying?” Threads lately. So my serious answer is unchanged.

He has a very secure job here, with an infrastructure built to support him. He has young talent on tap coming through from our Academy. One of the best chairman in the league who backs him and believes in him. And I genuinely think, unless untenable, if we were relegated Tony would still back him to bring us up. GP has also spoken lately about how carefully he now chooses his jobs and that he’s “connected to the chairman on a philosophical level”.

I don’t think he’d jack all this in yet, for a club where 1 bad season and you’re out. One day he will leave but for a much bigger opportunity.

Conversely I think we should have more confidence in our club. We’re an incredible fit for him as well.

Ok - He will be managing Brighton at the start of the season and not going to another club.

He will go to a bigger club with a higher salary.
As a player he would have made a very comfortable life for himself but not amazing money which was limited by his playing ability.
As a better manager than he was a player, he'll be waiting for a top job on big bucks . Who wouldn't?
Managers don't always have long careers and he needs to do what's right for him and his family.
If the next step is Everton so be it. The bookies have him as favourite at 2/1 but that could be a different story in an hours time.
Maybe it'll be tomorrow or maybe next year, maybe 10 years from now but he will go.......

I reckon GP has seen the links to Tottenham, and maybe thinks he needs to take a stepping stone job before he can reach those calibre of jobs. I hope he doesn't think that, just my opinion
