He might need better players to play his style with us in the PL (or for us to progress up the table at least) but that doesn't mean another club in a different league wouldn't have good enough players to play his style at that level. I don't watch enough Scottish football to know either way if Celtic could play his style with their current players and be successful.

... which is something you would assume to be very obvious but apparently not.

To go and manage a huge club playing in a lesser league where several teams who's crowds are so small that the fact fans are not allowed to attend has not even been noticed

4 pages in and I can't see one of the few from the match day thread who would drive him up there themselves.

Yes, where are Junior and chums during this hour of opportunity?

I've seen a bit. It really is monkey tennis. Lots of fast running about and 1990s style assaults (sorry, I meant tackles).

To take on any side outside the top two up there would be corrosion of the soul. Imagine thinking you are going to be able to interact with an opposition to create a football contest of sublety and elegance on a par with the Mona Lisa, then realise what you actually have is this:

I'd have thought Benitez ... that said I haven't given it much thought.

The obvious point is it’d be a career step down. PL is arguably the best league in the world. SPL. Well. It’s not really is it?

Also he’s blessed with a perfect club for him here with a supportive owner, a conveyer belt of talent, and starting to build something. It’s a lot to leave and he’d want to see the fruits of his labours.

I do think there’s a chance he’ll leave for a “big job” one day. I’m willing to bet that will be England, or outside bet a Man Utd. I genuinely think he’s that good.

Already en route, Potter’s in the boot.

I’m surprised he squeezed into a 02 Clio boot, especially with the huge bass drivers wedged in there! Probably took some tactical flexibility.

Absolutely no chance. He'd command a kings ransom (which they haven't got), and is FAR too big a name to consider dropping down to the Highlands Premier.

Someone like Steve Clarke might get a bit of traction, if he's allowed to take over after the Euros. Failing that, maybe Rod Stewart.

I'm not sure he's suited to the brief periods of contact that go with being an international manager.

I also don't think the England job, or any international job for that matter, is considered a step up from a Premier League job nowadays.

It seems from the Celtic message board they're demanding a big name, Benitez, AVB and Mourinho feature prominently.

It would be hard not to feel some sympathy for Lennon, a Celtic legend who has done a superb job as a player and a manager but where many 'factors' have worked against him and the club.

We have experienced a difficult season due to so many factors and it is very frustrating and disappointing that we have not been able to hit the same heights as we did previously," Lennon said.

"I have worked as hard as ever to try and turn things around, but unfortunately we have not managed to get the kind of run going that we have needed.

"I have always given my best to the club and have been proud to deliver silverware to the Celtic supporters. The club will always be part of me. I will always be a Celtic supporter myself and I will always want the best for Celtic."

Surely this has Eddie Howe’s name written all over it. Go win a league or 2, nice European run and would get a job with a top 10 team down here (where he would flounder before being sacked).

For all those saying he'd never go to Celtic, i think you're looking through Albion tinted specs. Being a football manager is his job. It's how he earns his money. If another company came in and offered him double his wages, of course he'd swap jobs. 99% of the population of this country would do the same. Why do football fans of clubs think that 'their' personnel would be more interested in 'the project' etc rather than cash in the bank.

Reminds me of when people say things like why would 'x' player want yo go and live in Burnley etc over Brighton, it's a shit hole.... not realising that most Burnley players live in Hale Barns the most affluent area in Manchester/Cheshire.

I’m sure the Celtic fans would welcome Swansman with open arms. :)

I am not sure that Celtic Fans would truly understand where Swansman was coming from ( And I don't mean Sweden )

He would verbally tie them up in knots. They might be up for visiting his ''Sex Basement '' though but I fear Wee Nicola Sturgeon would put the ''Kybosh'' on the opening of it.

'' Scottish Dialect '' is very much like Swedish so there would be no language barrier - All in all. Is it a '' Mariage made in Heaven'' - I think not

But I suppose it is up to the Members of NSC as to whether we accept the Transfer Fee Offered or not ?

I don't think they would be interested in Potter but if they were I could see it happening. If reports are correct, he is one of the lowest paid managers in the PL and Celtic would pay a lot more.

No idea how motivated by money he is but if I was offered 2.5x my salary I would bee tempted, even if it moved to the pressure cooker environment at Celtic.

He is one of the Lowest paid Managers in the PL but Celtic pay managers a lot less. It didn't used to be the case but it has been for some time. Potter probably earns more at Brighton that he would at Celtic

Without knowing how accurate the website is, GP is listed as £1 million PA and Celtic £2.4 million.

He could get more by going to a different Premier League club though and even Scott Parker is (apparently) on £3.5 million.
