I'm not Potter out (and he's clearly a manager with a ton of potential) but as the other poster said, the level of devotion is odd considering he hasn't achieved anything with us yet.

Lots on here mock Leeds fans for their Bielsa obsession but at least he got them promoted.

Potter doesn't have that kind of fawning. It is just being recognised that he is very capable and the problem rests with the personnel.

It's a refreshing thing to see.

Potter's fault for team selection and team motivation, or lack of.
Still in till end of the season and really can't see Tony keeping if we are relegated.
Will get Fat Sam in.

I agree with THPP, sick of these polls.

Where's the one that says "do you agree our forwards are pretty much all absolutely shit and shouldn't be playing for us next season?"

Put me down as a yes for that one. I don't want any of them in the stripes next season (or even the current crap home shirt)

Bad week but still Potter In.
I still respect the club for employing a manager with an ambitious playing style.
I’m not convinced it will ever fully work with our resources but if it did then we will have an amazing team.
For now it’s all about staying up. It’s too late to change the manager.
It’s not too late to get a specialist forwards coach though.

In, Potter isn’t the problem it’s our forwards department, the lot of them too (can’t believe how many millions we’ve wasted on this department)and imho Potter doesn’t get to decide who’s in that department, it’s them upstairs!

You can only blame the manager for team selection of he's not picking the best players. Nobody can say that Zequiri and Tau are definitely better, and Andone isn't fit. You can only make a wrong choice if you actually have a choice.

Potter has all season picked Maupay. First on the team sheet, week in week out. This a centre forward who all season has missed chance after chance after chance. Scored hardly any goals in open play in the Premier league and is o longer even keeping his tally up by taking penalties. Maupay should have been fighting for his place since October. Potter is at fault for not creating competition up front. I agree the options are not great but he needs to try to find something to work, instead of keep picking Maupay, week in week out. Now is time to convert someone else into an emergency striker and play 1 up front. Or play Wellbeck. But to keep picking a forward who cant score goals is like opening a pub but failing to order the beer.

It's very easy to be on the fence.

We can recognize that we play good football (not as good as some people make out), that Potter has brought through a number of young players and that we have had some rotten luck this year.

But then also recognize that, on the whole, results haven't been good enough (only 1 win vs the teams in the bottom half, only 1 home win per year), that Potter is either unable or too stubborn to change our approach and that we are making the same errors that we have been all season.

It's looking likely by next week he will be a bottom 3 manager.

So does Potter strike you as the sort of bloke who’ll sit in Tony’s office demanding a proven striker who can also take penalties or is he the sort who’ll take what Ashworth gives him?

But none of our forward options can score goals, that is the problem. Shuffling them around doesn't seem to change anything. Some people were calling for Connolly alongside maupay and now he's getting slagged off.

Honestly. The fact that we keep having to ask this question is enough for me.

We need a fresh approach. The players look so low on confidence.

The chances we are creating is a huge credit to Potter's style of play, the chances we are missing is a huge embarrassment to the players.
We are stuck with the players until the summer it's down to them to secure our Premier future.

The style of play has got us creating 20+ chances a game recently what more can he do.

It’s not his fault if the players let him down and no one shows enough in training to make significant changes. He has got the balls to make a decision (Ryan) when needed.

I am hoping the recent games has shown him it’s time to take evasive action now training performance a side.

You can only train people so much before the responsibility falls on the player who frankly are paid an obscene wage to deliver

Stating we need a new striker coach is an easy assumption to make, but do you really think the players are not practising this regularly?

As I said in another thread our 4 'strikers' have 4000 minutes of game time and have managed 8 goals between them and just 2 assists. That's like 1 goal every 6 games between them, oh and 1 assist per season!

I don't know who's at fault but what I see on the pitch is a (generally) slow, ponderous build up which does allow us to get players forward but also allows 'them' to get their players back. Result is we have 5 players in their box and they have 10. So we do get lots of chances but with no room or time to properly operate it's not surprising we can't score.

That sounds to me like it's down to the Manager/Coaching

Conversely not passing across to a player in acres of space and or skying/slicing the 1 or 2 sitters a game is down to the players.

I think Potter has to change some of our play to get upfield quicker but then I don't think we have the players to do the business when we get there ..... sorry state of affairs

I'm not participating in these votes anymore. They are poisonous and divisive.

Yes, we show lots of promise and we play entertaining football. But, entertaining football without any end result is not entertainment.

These are the same problems we have faced all season and they have not been fixed, by the manager, the players or the recruitment strategy. Something is clearly very wrong. This stopped being 'bad luck' about 12 games ago.

The board have got it wrong by not investing in a striker.
The manager is getting it wrong by not working with what he has.
The players are getting it wrong by not putting these chances away.

Am I entertained? No. Am I excited by this team? Not when I see us squander chances 'week-in, week-out' and fail to get results.

Sadly, the current set up is not getting the results I want or expect, and there is nothing wrong with expectation.

Out

A tactician he may be but lacks man management skills , players confidence and morale are rock bottom , and he doesnt appear to have power to reverse that.
Yesterdays forward line was not premier league quality
Maupay , Trossard are championship players at best.
Connoly and Mac are league 1 at best.

Substitutions are always the wrong choice , and they never come out second half showing improvement , no fire no passion.
Lots of nice passing moves in the middle of the park is not going to keep us up .

So he can go for me , and take Ashworth with him , been a slow but steady decline in team performance since his arrival,
What does he actually do ?

ID give Lampard the job till end of season then if we stay up give him the gig,
