...Your point about the crowd suggests that TB would defer to the mob - I am not sure he would and I really hope he doesn't. If the recent polls were representative of the 30k Amex crowd, there would be 40% minority howling at every misplaced pass, groaning at missed opportunities, yelling apoplectically at whichever player they feel typifies their perspective : currently that would Ali J, BDB, Webster (?) Solly (?). I for one don't miss that element or characteristic of our home support.

40% booing after every game would be a serious thing IMHO.
I don't think that's likely, as 40% leave before full time and at least 25% of Amex supporters couldn't really care less how we do.

I don’t do booing but booing is for a “not fit to wear the shirt performance” surely. We have had how many of those? I’d say none, just immense frustration that we didn’t put a game to bed, so it’s only a very few who would be booing imo. I’d hate to be wrong on this btw. We haven’t actually lost that many games, just drawn too many that we could have won.

For the first time, I have voted out and with a heavy heart. I really like Mr. Potter and so want him to succeed.

But we seem to be going absolutely nowhere, seemingly stuck in a rut with no plan on how to move forward.

Agreed.
And actually that's linked to what goes on here. People are bound to be more 'vocal' on here. It's cathartic. And I'm certain even some of the most critical of Potter on NSC wouldn't be booing at the games.
I've never booed the team.

True, so much abuse coming out of my mouth as we slowed down the build up and their keeper saved shots that should have ended up in the net, along with some of the passing are not things I would have been as vociferous about if I was actually at the game

a galaxy far far away
A banana skin cup game and a away game at a in form Man City are hard to read too much into but if we do not take at least 3 points from Leeds or Fulham then I think we will be seeing a monumental swing towards calls for a new manager.

Totally agree with this.

Newport away on that pitch in a cup tie isn't the game to form judgements on. City away, in the form they're in, isn't the game to form judgements on.

If we can't get a win against Fulham or Leeds, then having been very pro Potter all the way through, i'll be starting to waver.

The time for excuses is over.

Cold hard results are what matter. A win is NEEDED against Fulham or Leeds, (preferably Fulham)

But there are plenty of arguments or reasons why people think he should stay, you just don't think they are valid or you have just ignored them too. No-one will convince you otherwise until we start winning home games - this is what makes it an increasingly depressing and pointless debate anymore. Some of us think we can see indicators that are encouraging, that suggest we are frustratingly close to making us a very good PL side and in that context are very happy to let GP carry on to see that progress develop. You and others don't. Your point about the crowd suggests that TB would defer to the mob - I am not sure he would and I really hope he doesn't. So getting down to the cold hard facts all you have is Potter might work out..one day and until that happens Brighton supporters should shut up and enjoy the one home win a year because Tony Bloom says so???

You may not boo but there are plenty of those who do, and if you recall the end of the Hyypia era it certainly made the stadium a nasty place to be. Interesting to note that even with that, Hyypia quit rather than Bloom sacking him. Even last season the crowd was a hindrance rather than a support at times.

Similar to last season, I'm banking on another suspension of football to get us through. I'm still Potter "in" by the way. I still think there are too many players that are too inconsistent. Trossard for example, on his day is superb but when he's off he's so off it's laughable. This is where I feel for Potter. The last match Trossard played in he was excellent, so kept his powder dry for the City match: Understandable. Brings him on to close out the game and he literally couldn't do a thing right.

I don't think it's tactics that cause this because we have a similar style every match in the main, but other than March, Webster and Bissouma, everyone else is complete Jekyll or Hyde.

Although the Potter ins can’t give a valid reason for one home win a year I’ve asked many times just to be ignored. With a 30k home crowd getting increasingly frustrated at poor results I would be surprised if Potter would still be the manager of BHA. Covid has saved him more than once since his appointment.

Valid reason I'd say is a failure to take the chances created and a number of individual mistakes which have resulted in some soft goals. The evidence of general play is there for all to see in most games we are the better side but either fail to take or fail to create enough gilt edged chances for our strike force to translate our possession into goals. Allied to that defensively we are giving away some poor goals often just after we have scored.

Expected Goals and all the other myriad of stats are not definitive by any standards but as indicators they say we should be doing better than we are. Is that the Manager? Yes it could be, but I suspect its the lack of quality in our forward line and attacking options we are playing open attractive football which increases your chances of conceding goals but ought to increase your chances to score at the other end, we are just not doing that enough.

I take your point about the crowd and semi agree but the flip side of that would be that we may well have won some of those home games had we had the effect of the crowd creating momentum etc

There you have it.. I think there is more than one home win statistic to draw on, but you either don't believe that or refuse to as is your wish. But refusing to acknowledge any validity to that in any way doesn't make it untrue and is why the argument labours on. If I take your sentiment , all you have is "one home win" (Ignore any away wins or record points tally, neutral pundits view of our games in-match stats), because you will say there is only one that counts. I suspect TB looks beyond the one statistic to decide if progress i sbening made. If not he would have fired GP already.

I also believe, maybe sentimentally, that any player whose confidence is struggling is helped by a positive crowd and hate the atmosphere that can be generated by a minority when the results or performances don't meet up to their expectations. Supporters ire is incredibly valuable, as our rich history shows, but for me, the negativity that you suggest is acceptable in terms of player performance/team results is not. We won't agree because we will not be able to convince each other.

Lord help us if the crowd, or worse NSC, get to decide who the head coach is! As of now thats TB and long may it remain so.

Thats fine if owners/chairmen choose to ignore the most important element of their business....the paying fans. TB will not be unaware of the disquiet about GP and results, from significant sections of the support base. He will keep judging the mood until he decides its too ugly to continue with the gameplan. He will weigh up investment v results. He will gauge progression. He is the decision maker and will more than likely back his judgement. No one is indispensable, though.

I am genuinely surprised by the vitriol that Graham Potter is subjected to.

Trying to rationalise the level of criticism, which I feel is over the top, I wonder if the current situation we all find ourselves in, the pandemic and multiple lockdowns, is making people less forgiving? Quicker to call for the managers head?

The formations and the team selections are the issue.

I genuinely believe if Potter gave a few of the “out of sorts” players a run in the team then we would start to see a change in fortune and levels of performance.

Tross is a perfect example, been in and out of the side in a variety of positions which must have a huge effect on your performance. Also the players are looking more and more like strangers with each passing match. No one can form any kind of understanding with their team mates when they only have 60mins to do it before one of them gets subbed.

Potter needs to believe in himself and he needs to get that across to the players because they look lost at the moment. Players like Trossard, Mac Allister, Maupay, Connolly, Alzate need to feel that the manager has their back and have confidence in the players around them.

Potter CAN be the man to sort this, but he needs to believe in himself and show the players he believes in them and stop acting like a 13 year old on football manager who keeps losing games so changes every option available.

The reason I go on about the home performance is because it’s the most important, if we don’t win at least 8-9 at home we are done for and right now I can’t see that happening. I understand the optimism with some yet one doesn’t work without the other. Are players like Lamptey leaving the PL to slum it in the championship very doubtful. It’s so important to stay in the PL to develop Blooms dream of a talent factory.

Personally some of my best days of following the Albion have been in the lower leagues so don’t think I’m PL or nothing, I’m quoting because it seem to be a crucial part of the long term plan financially and also attracting the best of the young talent.

I think it’s more simple than that. Some people are just unpleasant.

During Hughton’s end times I was Hughton out. But reluctantly so, as he was a good man who was working his hardest for the club.

There are some Potter out fans like that. But the ones that are so gleefully hateful are hard to understand.
